A man in Louisiana faces attempted murder charges for reportedly running over a deputy with an ATV. Officials said the suspect turned himself in Tuesday morning, two days after the deputy was hit and hurt. The deputy was seriously hurt after being hit and was rushed to the hospital, covered in scrapes and bruises and now full of stitches. He and a partner were sent to a neighborhood for a burglar alarm went off at a house around 2 in the morning local time last Sunday. Once there, they said they noticed 35-year-old Joey Joffrion driving recklessly on an ATV. That's when the deputy tried to stop him. "We are very thankful. We are trained for these types of things but obviously in an injury like this we just have to thank God," said Allison Hudson with the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office. Joffiron is now in custody, charged with attempted first-degree murder and a slew of other charges. Records show he's been arrested before, including three reckless operations charges and a DWI. He's now off the streets and the sheriff's department said the deputy should be back on the streets before long. "I think it's mostly just an individual type thing," Hudson said. "How fast his body will heal. But he is ready to get back to work." The deputy has been released from the hospital. No bond has been set for the suspect.
