On duty police officer drop two armed thiefs
Rio suburbs, During a patrol, agents from Rio Military Police found 4 suspects of robbery, during the stop to check them, the bandits opened fire against the officers, who took cover and returned fire. During intense firefight, a inocent civilian leaving work was hit and died. Two bandits was able to rob a bike and escape, while two others kept running and shooting. By the time they tought they had gained some distance from the cops, they also tried to rob a bike, but little did they knew, another officer was hidden waiting for a perfect window to ambush them, wich result in they both getting shot several times. One of the thiefs died in the spot and another one was taken to hospital under police protection.

NRA getting pounded in spending by gun control groups as support for new legislation increases
On Saturday, Newsweek reported that the National Rifle Association is badly losing the campaign funding war to gun control groups promoting new legislation in the wake of the mass shootings in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio. OpenSecrets.org shows that groups like Giffords and Everytown for Gun Safety have spent nearly $2 million on a campaign urging the public and Congress to support universal background checks and a federal "red flag" law allowing temporary confiscation of firearms from people deemed a risk to themselves and others. By contrast, the NRA - which has spent the last year roiled by financial and legal troubles - has not launched a counter-campaign at all, let alone match their funding. This comes as a new poll from Quinnipiac finds a gigantic level of support for new gun laws, with 93 percent of voters supporting universal background checks, 82 percent supporting a "permit-to-purchase" law, 80 percent supporting a red flag law, and 60 percent supporting an assault weapons ban.

Continuum Damage Material Point Methods for Dynamic Fracture Animation
Amazing physics engine. Joshuah Wolper, Yu Fang, Minchen Li, Jiecong Lu, Ming Gao, Chenfanfu Jiang We present two new approaches for animating dynamic fracture involving large elastoplastic deformation. In contrast to traditional mesh-based tech- niques, where sharp discontinuity is introduced to split the continuum at crack surfaces, our methods are based on Continuum Damage Mechanics (CDM) with a variational energy-based formulation for crack evolution. Our first approach formulates the resulting dynamic material damage evolution with a Ginzburg-Landau type phase-field equation and discretizes it with the Material Point Method (MPM), resulting in a coupled momentum/damage solver rooted in phase field fracture: PFF-MPM. Although our PFF-MPM approach achieves convincing fracture with or without plasticity, we also introduce a return mapping algorithm that can be analytically solved for a wide range of general non-associated plasticity models, achieving more than two times speedup over traditional iterative approaches. To demonstrate the efficacy of the algorithm, we also develop a Non-Associated Cam-Clay (NACC) plasticity model with a novel fracture-friendly hardening scheme.Our NACC plasticity paired with traditional MPM composes a second approach to dynamic fracture, as it produces a breadth of organic, brittle material fracture effects on its own. Though NACC and PFF can be combined, we focus on exploring their material effects separately. Both methods can be easily integrated into any existing MPM solver, enabling the simulation of various fracturing materials with extremely high visual fidelity while requiring little additional computational overhead.

Bodycam Released of Fatal Officer-Involved Shooting Inside A Dell Taco Restaurant
On January 5, 2019, three San Diego Sheriff Deputies responded to a call concerning a man with a gun threatening a patron at the Del Taco restaurant at 7060 Broadway Street in Lemon Grove. A witness at the scene provided the deputies with a description of the man who had pointed a gun at him and his family. The deputies entered the restaurant and gave the man, later identified as Adolfo Angel Gonzalez, 28, verbal commands to put his hands up. Gonzalez immediately pulled a handgun from under the table and pointed it at two of the deputies. All three deputies fired at Gonzalez, who was fatally struck. Following the incident, investigators learned that Gonzalez suffered from mental illness and recently purchased the handgun he used in the incident. Gonzalez's family was aware of his mental health problems and had become increasingly concerned for his welfare as his mental state deteriorated. The day this incident took place, Gonzalez told a family member he wanted to get into a shootout with police. Toxicology testing indicated Gonzalez had a blood alcohol content of .25 percent. The events leading up to and including the shooting were captured on the closed-circuit video cameras at the Del Taco restaurant, as well as deputies' body-worn cameras. Exterior cameras show Gonzalez arriving at the front entrance on foot and entering the building. Interior cameras show Gonzalez entering the restaurant and then stopping to look at a children's play area, which is separated by floor to ceiling glass. Gonzalez removed a handgun from the right pocket of his hoodie and pointed it at a customer. Gonzalez walks out of the video frame and is then captured by another camera as he walks to the counter to order. Gonzalez appears to be waiting to order and while doing so removes the gun from the right pocket of his jacket, looks at it and then places it back in the same pocket. Another camera captures Gonzalez after he received his food and is seated in the dining room eating. As soon as the deputies enter the restaurant, Gonzalez retrieves a gun from his waist area with his right hand and points it in the direction of the deputies. After a thorough review, the District Attorney's Office determined the deputies fired at Gonzalez in their own defense and the defense of others, and therefore bear no state criminal liability for their actions.

Yesterday, officers arrested Jesse Rose AGE 33 in the Walmart parking lot around 8:45 am. The complaint was he appeared to be under the influence of drugs and was walking around talking to himself and acting strangely. Officers arrived at the scene, contacted Rose, and attempted to visit with him. Officers described him as being altered and did not know if the issue was drug or medically related. Because we have a high tendency of dealing with mental-health consumers, there was some initial confusion as to whether this was a medical or drug-related event. As you will observe by watching the video, it becomes apparent to officers they were dealing with an intoxicated subject. Officers had to physically remove Rose from his vehicle and take him into custody. He was secured at our local jail but would later need to be shuffled around inside the jail. Later that afternoon, around 2 pm, officers found the time to move the inmates around and finish preparing them for the county jail. In doing so, Rose was made to sit in the booking area while officers moved another inmate out of the intox cell. Rose used that opportunity to make his great escape. Officer Garrison appears at the entrance into the jail. Officer Herrera signaled to Ofc. Garrison to keep an eye on Rose. When the coast was clear, Rose charged Ofc. Garrison and immediately took possession of her taser. Ofc Herrera and Sgt. Jones heard the struggle and responded to Ofc. Garrison. Rose then discharged the taser toward Ofc. Herrera but missed striking him. The struggle continued into the booking hallway where Rose attempted to reload the taser. Because the taser was still administering its initial 5-second cycle, the second taser cartridge immediately discharged prematurely when it neared the "muzzle" of the taser. Rose then ran down the hallways, pursued by officers. As they turned the corner, Rose was taken to the ground and continued to fight with officers. At one point during the fray, Rose bit an officer on the arm. After a brief struggle, Rose was again taken into custody. Aside from minor injuries, no officers were seriously injured in this event.

A heartbreaking war story former Vice President Joe Biden has told on the campaign trail for years never actually happened, according to a new report in the Washington Post. In Biden's version of the story, he traveled to visit U.S. troops in Afghanistan's Kumar province while vice president at the request of a four-star general to honor an act of bravery by a Navy captain who had carried the body of his fallen soldiers out of a gorge while under fire. By Biden's telling, the Navy captain in question still blamed himself for his colleague's death and rejected Biden's attempts to give him a Silver Star, a military award that recognizes bravery in combat. When Biden tells the story, he recalls the captain saying, "Sir, I don't want the damn thing" and "Do not pin it on me, Sir! Please, Sir. Do not do that! He died." The Post said that according to interviews with "more than a dozen" military officials and Biden campaign staffers, "almost every detail in the story appears to be incorrect" and it "appears as though the former vice president has jumbled elements of at least three actual events into one story of bravery, compassion and regret that never happened." The Post's examination of the true facts found that while Biden did in fact travel to Kumar province, he did so while a U.S. Senator in 2008 and not as vice president. The member of the armed forces who carried out the dangerous mission to retrieve his colleague's body was a 20-year old Army specialist named Kyle J. White and not a Navy captain, and also never received a Silver Star at the time. He was later awarded the Medal of Honor several years after the fact, according to the Post. Biden did, in fact, once give an award to a distraught and guilt-wracked Army Staff Sgt. Chad Workman in Afghanistan's Wardak province, his campaign confirmed to the Post. In an interview with the Post, Workman described feeling apprehensive about receiving a Bronze Star from Biden to honor his bravery in rushing into a vehicle engulfed in flames to try and rescue a fellow soldier and "trying to get out of it." And during his 2008 visit to Kumar province, Biden and two other U.S. senators witnessed Maj. Gen. David Rodriguez present a Bronze Star to Spc. Miles Foltz, who did put himself directly in the line of Taliban fire to rescue a wounded soldier who ended up surviving despite being shot in the neck. As Biden embarked on the campaign trail to support Democratic candidates including presidential nominee Hillary Clinton in 2016, he began telling a mish-mash of those three stories on the campaign trail, with the account becoming more "harrowing and less accurate" with every telling, the Post said. Throughout his political career, Biden has frequently invoked and highlighted heart-wrenching stories about the sacrifices made by deployed members of the US armed services. Biden's late son Beau, who died of brain cancer in 2015, served as a Judge Advocate General in the U.S. Army and deployed to Iraq for a year from 2008 to 2009. But Biden is a self-admitted gaffe machine and is known for sometimes making misstatements or exaggerating the truth to get across a larger, more significant point. Throughout his career, Biden has relied on his ability to connect with people and make an impression wherever he goes on the campaign trail - gaffes aside. Workman told the Post that Biden "has that look where his eyes can see into your eyes" and said "I felt like he really understood."

Two robbery suspects led sheriff's deputies on a wild pursuit through the streets of East LA, Commerce, and Bell Gardens Wednesday afternoon, and shared a romantic moment before surrendering. During the pursuit, the driver went the wrong way up streets, weaved in and out of lanes and narrowly avoided a crash. The duo even came close to pushing a pick up truck out of their way in Bell Gardens. The car eventually stopped in an alley near Fostoria Street and Eastern Avenue. A Veterinarian is apparently administering a lethal injection in the horses neck. As he pets the horse to comfort the horse it drops dead. L.A. County sheriff's deputy faked being shot by a sniper, authorities say
Before a sheriff's deputy allegedly faked being shot by a sniper, he had been investigated for dishonesty by Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department officials, law enforcement sources said. Deputy Angel Reinosa is now the subject of a criminal investigation after he said he was shot by a sniper outside the sheriff's Lancaster station, a claim officials said he later admitted was untrue. The incident sparked a massive law enforcement response and days of searching for a phantom gunman. The sources said that Reinosa had been investigated in the past in another incident involving allegations of dishonesty documented by his supervisors. The sources didn't provide details but said that at the time of the alleged sniper incident Reinosa was set to move into a job in the sheriff's detention system. The sources said the investigation led to discipline but no recommendation that he be fired. The Los Angeles County district attorney's office is now deciding whether to charge Reinosa in the sniper incident. A representative could not be reached for comment. Reinosa, a 21-year-old deputy assigned to the department's Lancaster station, said he had been on his way to his car in the station's parking lot when he was hit by rifle fire from a nearby apartment building. He claimed the protective vest he was wearing stopped a shot to his chest, while another bullet had grazed his shoulder. But investigators noted there had been no 911 calls reporting gunfire in the area and no bullets were found in the parking lot. A hole in his shirt that Reinosa said came from a bullet was far too large, sources said. And on his own radio call seeking help, Reinosa sounded much too calm for someone who had just been shot, let alone a green deputy still in his first year on the job, multiple sheriff's officials and others with knowledge of the investigation told the L.A. Times on Sunday. By nightfall, even as a massive manhunt for his purported attacker continued, Reinosa became the focus of the investigation he had set in motion. Those early suspicions were borne out late Saturday night, when investigators announced Reinosa had concocted the shooting. "We are all appalled and disappointed," Sheriff Alex Villanueva said in an interview with The Times on Sunday. "We intend to hold the individual responsible for breaking the law and most importantly for betraying the community." Although it soon became clear that the deputy's story did not add up, investigators couldn't jump to conclusions, the sheriff added. On Saturday, he said Reinosa confessed when investigators confronted him with the evidence that indicated the shooting was bogus. "He admitted to cutting the holes in his shirt," Villanueva said. "We know the 'what' and the 'how.' We don't know the 'why.'" Reinosa's motive for faking an assassination attempt remained unknown, but Lancaster Mayor R. Rex Parris said in an interview that the deputy had been struggling in his first year in the field - a probationary training period that all deputies must complete before becoming full-fledged deputies.

A Biden Trump Debate Preview
As we patiently await the Democrats to narrow down their field of Presidential hopefuls. We can analyze the differences between the Democrat's leading candidate former Vice President Joe Biden, who maintains a double digit lead over the rest of the Democratic field and our current President Donald J. Trump. They both made recent speeches in the key Granite State of New Hampshire which is always the first to vote in the primaries. Consider it a preview of what's to come if Joe Biden doesn't grope anyone or gaffe himself into oblivion and makes it to the 2020 Presidential debate stage. The first detail is blatantly obvious. Crowd size. We know Biden's crowd is small regardless of the illusion of television. But Trump's crowd, well even a five year old or possibly even CNN could see the massive difference. You can tell CNN notices when they lie about it. Secondly, rhetoric. Biden is somewhere between a moderate broken record and an undecided liberal socialist Democrat. And Biden apparently has no idea that the more he exaggerates the actual values of a sitting President the more he angers anyone with half a brain that knows which way the wind blows. And third, Biden's foreign policy is backwards. Claiming that he would stand up to China is laughable in the face of Hunter Biden's billion dollar pay to play deal known as Bohai Harvest which has still managed to avoid the scrutiny it deserves. While Trump is waging a trade war with a Communist Country that has dug its claws deep into the heart of America for decades. And of course with Biden the gaffes never stop. He thought he was in Vermont rather than New Hampshire according to an exchange he had with a reporter. Anyone interested in the future of this Country can plainly see that Trump is going to tear into Biden like Mike Tyson in his prime. President Trump is only getting started and alot of Americans want to see what is around the corner. Driver Plows Through Crowd Near Coors Field
After a fight broke out over the weekend in Denver's LoDo area, a car plowed into a crowd of people and the driver drove off. Denver police say they have identified a suspect but that person was not in custody. In a disturbing video shared with CBS4, the car appeared to hit two people. One went up onto the hood, flew up into the air and landed hard on the street. The other person was able to quickly get up and walk away after getting hit. Denver Police Division Chief Ron Thomas discussed the details of the investigation during a news conference on Monday afternoon. He said that police have identified a suspect but that the suspect is not in custody. He also said the suspect may face vehicular assault charges but that would be up to the district attorney. Police used the vehicle's license plate and vehicle owner registration to track down the suspect. There were other people inside the car who may be witnesses to what happened. Police said both people were taken to the hospital but no one was seriously hurt in the crime, which happened at the intersection of 20th Street and Market Street about 1:30 a.m. Sunday. In a separate video that was shared on Twitter, people are seen throwing things at the driver and trying to rip the door off that same car moments before the driver takes off. See that video below, but be warned there is strong language. Police confirmed that there were people trying to get to those inside of the car before the driver drove into the crowd of people. Thomas said the officers on the scene were among those who patrol the downtown area .

KPD releases video of Haynes Apperson Festival arrest
Kokomo Police Department released body cam footage from a recent arrest that occurred in front of the stage during the recent Haynes Apperson Festival. In July a video capturing the arrest of Jonatan Cantu, 25, by KPD officers during the Haynes Apperson Festival went viral. That video showed officers deploying strikes and a stun gun against Cantu as he lay on the ground but failed to show what led to the altercation between the officers and the Kokomo man who, according to court documents, was harassing event staff and attendees for "being the devil." The newly-released body cam footage, procured through an information request to the city, shed more light on the event as KPD officials defend their officers' use of force during the incident. Footage from the first officer on the scene's body cam began as the officer approached the park in his vehicle, and he made his way toward the concert area of Foster Park on foot after parking on Superior Street. When the officer arrived to Cantu's location, just in front of the stage in Foster Park as a band played during the festival, Cantu was seen in the video standing about two feet away from an individual working park security. His arm was outstretched, holding a large wooden cross, and waving it in the woman's face. In the video the officer can be heard telling Cantu, "You've got to go," and the man responded by shaking his head. He replied, "I have a freedom of speech," and began to walk away from the officer. The officer then reached out toward Cantu, and the camera cuts off presumably as his body cam was pushed against Cantu. When the events on the video became visible again, a few moments later, Cantu was on the ground on his stomach. The officer was on Cantu's back, and another EMA officer had Cantu's shoulders pinned with his knee. The officer ordered Cantu to roll over multiple times, but he refused repeatedly as the officer began deploying his stun gun into the man's back. The whole time Cantu also was refusing to release the cross, which, at this point, may be broken, and put his arms behind his back. A little under a minute after Cantu was on the ground, a second officer arrived on the scene and began to deliver what were dubbed in the probable cause affidavit as "distraction strikes" to Cantu's left side with his fist. The officers continued to order Cantu to roll over, but he's heard in the video replying "no" repeatedly. The struggle continued, with the second officer on the scene eventually transitioning to using his knee for "distraction strikes," as the first responding officer continued to use his Tazer on Cantu's back. After about another minute, the officers succeed in getting one of Cantu's arms behind his back, and one piece of the cross was removed from beneath Cantu. The officers could be heard warning each other to be careful of the broken cross, with one saying, "It's sharp there." At times Cantu also could be heard repeatedly saying, "Please help me. I've got a freedom of speech. Please God, please God, please God, help me. God please, forgive me." Shortly thereafter, the final piece of the cross was removed from beneath Cantu, and the officers cuffed his hands. Just short of four minutes after the altercation began, Cantu was led to the awaiting KPD squad cars. Just before Cantu was placed in the vehicle, he asked an officer, "I didn't hurt you, did I?" The officer replied, "No, you're all right." According to court documents, Cantu told the officers he wasn't experiencing any pain from the incident. After the release of the video, KPD Captain Tonda Cockrell gave the following statement: "On July 4, the Kokomo Police Department responded to a reported unwelcomed person who was refusing to leave Foster Park during the Haynes Apperson Festival. The individual refused to comply with the officer's orders to leave. As the KPD officer attempted to take him into custody for trespass, the subject resisted. "Our officers used a level of force consistent to the actions and level of resistance by the individual. The individual made no report of injuries at the time of the incident and declined medical treatment. No KPD officers or any other individuals were injured during this incident." As a result of the incident, Cantu faces two misdemeanors charges, criminal trespass, and resisting law enforcement.

I started filming this video after my Airbnb host verbally assaulted me with a barrage of insults, including calling me a F--king retard. He was angry because my friend's son asked why the man was being so mean to us (refusing to acknowledge or speak to us when we had waited in front of his home for someone to arrive so that we didn't leave it unlocked). My friend replied that she didn't know why, but she thought the man might be racist. For those of you who aren't a person of color, you may not be aware of the multitude of micro-aggressions we contend with on a daily basis. And certainly, for two African American women traveling with their five year old sons, to be ignored and then threatened by our host -- a large white man who screamed for us to get off of his property or he'd call the police, when we were there legally, this was perceived as very hostile and frightening. I did not call this man a racist... but what do you think?

Video shows man's truck stolen as he robbed business
Police say a man in the act of stealing items from a Kennewick, Washington business lost his getaway vehicle when another thief drove off with his pickup truck Sunday. Surveillance cameras along East Bruneau Ave. recorded a man on a bike cruise past William Kelley's red 1992 Chevy truck, then circle back. Police say Kelley left the keys on the seat. Video shows the man hoist his 10-speed into the bed of the truck. As he starts to back out of the parking spot to drive away, Kelley can be seen running to stop him, even hurling a bulky item at his own truck as it speeds away. Kennewick officers investigating the car theft said area surveillance video revealed a more complicated story. Police say Kelley was busy stealing items from a business across the street as the cyclist stole his truck. Facebook users couldn't help noting the irony of the situation, with some calling it "instant karma." Officers arrested Kelley on a warrant and added a burglary charge. Police are still trying to locate the missing truck.

NBC Contributor Marcie Bianco, a self described Writer, editor, cultural critic, and your favorite lesbian feminist recently wrote this in her piece titled Miley Cyrus' split with Liam Hemsworth isn't just celebrity gossip - it's a blow to the patriarchy "...... Men need heterosexuality to maintain their societal dominance over women. Women, on the other hand, are increasingly realizing not only that they don't need heterosexuality, but that it also is often the bedrock of their global oppression." The nonsensical radical idea that women are increasingly realizing that they don't need healthy heterosexual relationships based on Miley Cyrus' inevitable divorce, wasn't because Miley was victimized by global oppression. It was due to her inability to maintain a healthy heterosexual relationship. Some women just aren't ready or willing to take on the raw reality required of a partner in a caring monogamous relationship emboldened by the synthesis of matriarchal and patriarchal norms in the western world. Bianco was echoing a message bubbling amongst feminists for years. This is the rabid underbelly of the diatribe among the left. And if heterosexuality is on a sharp decline, as Marcie Bianco claims, wouldn't a straight pride parade make sense? The actual reality is that 2.2% of the American male population identifies as gay. While 1.1% identify as lesbian. And its not because the LGBT community is oppressed as 63% of Americans believe homosexuality is morally acceptable. But what is actually increasing is an epidemic trend in loneliness, as a General Social Survey discovered that the number of Americans with no close friends has tripled since 1985. In fact a study published in the US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health revealed that characteristics of socially isolated patients with coronary artery disease are at an elevated risk for mortality. Simply put, Loneliness is killing us and as those numbers skyrocket, mockingbird mainstream media outlets irresponsibly seed the mental illness of pseudo-racism, nationalized self loathing, and radical feminism. Echoing the projection of the fears of the LGBT community for example an otherwise overwhelmingly accepted minority. Off-Duty Officer Exchanges Gunfire with Suspects
Two suspects who were arrested in connection to an officer-involved shooting in the northwest valley were identified in Las Vegas Metropolitan police booking logs. Devan Allen, 27, and Markquwon Allen, 25, were arrested on Aug. 22 and booked into the Clark County Detention Center. According to jail records, both face a count each of attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, robbery with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a deadly weapon, battery with use of a deadly weapon resulting in substantial bodily harm and conspiracy to commit battery with a deadly weapon. According to Las Vegas police, an off-duty officer was shot near North Decatur Boulevard and Alexander Road on Aug. 21. Officers were called to the area about 11:30 p.m. after receiving reports that an officer had been shot. When police arrived, the officer was taken to University Medical Center Trauma for non-life threatening injuries. During their investigation, LVMPD detectives determined the off-duty officer saw several suspects surround a person and it looked as though that a fight was about to start, police said. The off-duty officer approached the group and tried to diffuse the situation. One of the suspects turned around with a handgun and pointed the weapon at the off-duty officer, police said. There was an exchange of gunfire and the off-duty officer was hit. The suspects ran to a vehicle and left the area. A short while later, a car stop was conducted on a suspect vehicle on Fourth Street and Ogden in downtown Las Vegas, police said. Three suspects were taken into custody, and two were suffering from gunshot wounds. The injured suspects were taken to UMC for treatment. None of the injuries reported were considered life-threatening. Both suspects are schedule to appear in Justice Court on Aug. 27 at 7:30 a.m.

A standoff occurred between police and a woman armed with a large chain in a Taco Bell parking lot in Anaheim Thursday. According to police, a woman climbed into the bed of a man's pick-up truck in the fast-food restaurant's parking lot and began to rummage through his things. The man tried to stop her and she hit him with a large chain, the Anaheim Police Department said. When police arrived, the woman was acting erratically and standing in the back of the victim's truck with a large chain and wrapped it around her neck. The woman refused to comply with police and negotiators were brought in to attempt to talk to her. Police ultimately used less-than-lethal force and a K-9 unit to take her into custody. The woman was taken to the hospital for medical clearance before being booked for assault with a deadly weapon.

$10,000 reward offered for arrest of wild burro killers Someone has been killing the wild burros of California's Mojave Desert, and the Bureau of Land Management is offering up to $10,000 to anyone who can help catch the culprit or culprits. Over the past three months, 42 burro carcasses containing gunshot wounds have been found scattered along a 60-mile (95-kilometer) stretch of Interstate 15, the main highway linking Los Angeles to Las Vegas. The animals, like wild horses, are protected under federal law. Anyone found guilty of harassing, branding or killing one faces a fine of up to $2,000 and a year in jail. More than that, burros are an enduring symbol of the American Southwest. With their pointy ears and distinctive "Hee-Haw" voices, they evoke a time when their sure-footedness in rocky terrain and ability to carry heavy loads long distances without complaint made them perfect pack animals for prospectors and others. "Wild horses and burros are an iconic part of the American West and part of our national heritage," William Perry Pendley, BLM's deputy director for policy and programs, said in a statement Friday. "We will pursue every lead until we've arrested and prosecuted those responsible for these cruel, savage deaths, and we welcome the public's help to bring the perpetrator or perpetrators to justice." The same traits that allowed burros to thrive as pack animals have been ideal for their survival in the modern Mojave Desert, where their diet consists of various plant vegetation and they are able to go for long stretches without water. As people have encroached on that territory over the years one of their biggest threats has been being hit by cars. That was until the shootings began in May. The reward offer is in addition to others of $2,500, $5,000 and $1,000 offered, respectively, by the American Wild Horse Campaign, Return to Freedom and The Cloud Foundation organizations. "The persons who shot these innocent and beloved burros deserve to be brought to justice," said Suzanne Roy, executive director of the American Wild Horse Campaign. "We hope that an increase in the reward will lead to arrest and conviction for these cruel acts."
