More than 50 child sex crimes offenders get arrested

More than 50 people have been arrested across the state of Redneckland, er, Texas as part of a nationwide a sting operations into online child sex crime. The alleged perpetrators are believed to have attempted to meet up with underage children for sex, while others possessed and promoted child pornography. Officers from the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force posed as underage children online for the sting, dubbed Operation 'Broken Heart'. The abuses are alleged to have occurred over several months in Montgomery, Fort Bend and Harris counties near Houston. Among those arrested were public employees. Authorities have revealed some details on how the sting operation took place as well as information about some of the individual cases. Officers said that the majority of the arrests involved adults grooming children online, or undercover officers posing as children. 'This is not just something that is relegated to your next door neighbor or one town away,' Houston Police Sergeant Luis Menendez-Sierra, who works closely with ICAC, said. 'Parents need to be vigilant.' In one case involving Christopher Lakner, 26, Constable Alan Rosen said that 'during chats, he tried to convince undercover personnel he thought was a teenage girl to help kidnap children from area parks, breed them to make babies.' Lakner is alleged to have told investigators that he wanted to keep girls in cages, force them into becoming pregnant and then sell the babies. Lackner was arrested at the point where he was alleged to have arranged a meeting with what was in fact an undercover officer. He was arrested in April and is still in custody. Operation Broken Heart' is the code name for a nationwide operation to tackle child sex abuse. The operation targets suspects who deal in child pornography, groom children online, engage in sex trafficking or travel to foreign countries to abuse children, according to the Department of Justice. Ten people dead after a private jet crashes into a hangar shortly after takeoff

At least 10 people have died in a small plane crash which started a fire at a Dallas-area airport on Sunday morning. The Federal Aviation Administration says the twin-engine Beechcraft BE-350 King Air crashed into an unoccupied hangar at the Addison Municipal Airport shortly after 9am. Edward Martelle, a spokesman for the town located just north of Dallas, said the plane crashed during takeoff and the resulting fire was quickly extinguished. The town has confirmed that there were 10 fatalities as a result of the incident. He says authorities do not yet have a flight manifest and cannot release any information on the identity or condition of those aboard. The US FAA investigators were at the crash site Sunday afternoon and the National Transportation Safety Board is sending investigators to the scene. According to FlightAware, the plane was bound for St. Petersburg, Florida, where it was scheduled to land at 1:18pm local time. The plane's activity log from the previous 10 days shows that the aircraft made numerous flights to Eagle, Colorado; Denver, and Aspen.

A group of protesters scuffled with police and blocked an intersection of San Francisco's Market Street Sunday, bringing the annual San Francisco Pride Parade to a halt for more than an hour. About 12 protesters lay down on Market Street, linking their arms covered by protected pipes painted with the rainbow colors, at around 11 a.m. Several other protesters pushed and shoved a contingent of San Francisco police, throwing water bottles at them, as the nearby crowd angrily shouted and jeered at them. Police took two people into custody during the incident. The protesters were cleared from the street and the parade began moving again at around noon.

The Murder of Pete Shrum 1993.

On March 27, 1993, in Mesquite, Texas, convenience store clerk Pete Shrum was shot and killed by two armed robbers. Shrum cooperated with the robbers' demands and made no attempt to fight back against them. Despite his cooperation, the robbers executed him. The crime was recorded by two security cameras in the store. Footage of the murder was shown on television to help identify the killers. Since then, the footage has been featured in many documentaries relating to crime, making it well known. The murder was described as a rare death penalty case, and was the first of only two death penalty cases expected to be tried in Dallas County in 1993. Both suspects were spared the death penalty but were convicted and sentenced to life in prison for the murder.

Suspect in Mackenzie Lueck slaying wanted secret room with wall hooks built, contractor claims SALT LAKE CITY - In a Fox News exclusive, a Utah handyman said Friday that the man arrested in the disappearance and murder of University of Utah student Mackenzie Lueck recently asked him to build a secret, soundproof room in his basement, complete with strange hooks on the walls. On April 4, nearly three months before Friday's arrest of suspect Ayoola Ajayi by Salt Lake City police, handyman Brian Wolf says he met with the man about some flood-damage repairs to his home. ARREST MADE IN DISAPPEARANCE OF UNIVERSITY OF UTAH STUDENT MACKENZIE LUECK Wolf, a self-employed construction contractor who does home remodels, said he was referred to Ajayi, whom he called "AJ," by a plumber who had worked at the house. Ultimately, Wolf decided the drywall repairs were unnecessary. That's when the conversation took a turn. According to Wolf, Ajayi started asking about "building this weird room" in a small space in the basement and making requests that set off alarms. "He didn't creep me out until he started asking for the requests that he wanted in that room," Wolf said. Initially, Ajayi proposed "a secret door" in a space that was roughly four feet wide and seven to nine feet long. But then he "slowly started sidestepping into more stuff, like wanting a thumb lock on it with a fingerprint lock, and soundproofing it, and putting hooks in the concrete - it was just weird what he was asking me," Wolf said. "I kinda joked around about it. Like, 'What do you need hooks that high for?' He was like, 'Oh, I'm going to hang these wine racks up there.' And I was like, 'Well, I can hang your wine racks for you and not have these big gaudy hooks that you want up here.' And then I was asking him why he wanted it soundproof, and he said if he wanted to sit down there and listen to his music real loud. "And I was thinking like, 'Why would you sit in a tiny little -- like almost a little bigger than a walk-in closet -- room and listen to your music real loud and drink your wine or whiskey or whatever?' "I got a bad gut feeling. And even my nephew, when we got out to the truck ... we both looked at each other and [I] was like, 'That was weird, right?' And he was like: 'Yeah, that was hella weird. We're not doing this job, right? "And I was like, 'Hell no,'" Wolf said. Ajayi was "adamant about telling me that money wasn't an object," Wolf recalled, saying the man emphasized that "he just needed to get it done now." "He told me the reason he wanted it done so fast was his girlfriend was coming out. He didn't tell me her name, what she looked like, anything like that - he just said that his girlfriend was coming into town and needed to get it done before she got there because she was a Mormon girl. He did say she was a white girl" and "she didn't know he drank so he wanted to hide his alcohol from her." (Lueck's family is Mormon.) Wolf said he finally turned down the project, telling Ajayi that his residence was too far away and that he wouldn't be able to tackle the job quickly enough. In truth, Wolf said, the proposed project from the friendly and talkative Ajayi made him very uncomfortable. Wolf, a father of two, said the interaction bothered him so much that he told his father, his wife and others. He didn't, however, tell the police about his concern that "the room he wanted built wasn't appropriate for anything other than something inappropriate." "Some people say I should have called the cops then," he said. "But how am I supposed to call the cops and be like, 'Hey, this guy wants me to build a weird room in his basement,'" Wolf said. Mackenzie Lueck, 23, was last seen after she was dropped off by a Lyft driver at a park near Salt Lake City. She hailed the ride after flying in from Los Angeles, where she'd attended her grandmother's funeral. Police said the Lyft driver, who has been cleared in the case, told them Lueck did not seem distressed on her way to the park. Wolf, who has a 23-year old daughter and a 5-year-old son said the case hits close to home. "I mean something like that could happen to her," Wolf said, referring to his own of his own daughter. "I can't imagine what that family is going through." He added: "I'm shaking right now. My heart's pounding. I'm almost about to cry. It's scary. I feel sorry for that girl." As for Ayaji, a neighbor told Fox News on Thursday that "many women" frequented the suspect's home. "There were always so many women coming in and out at all hours of the night," the neighbor, who did not want to be identified, told Fox News. Authorities said police searched the Salt Lake City home for about 19 hours for clues as to Lueck's whereabouts. They said they were also looking for a mattress and box spring removed from the home last week. Offering a different perspective, another neighbor, Tom Camomile, defended Ajayi, calling him a "professional man" and a "nice guy." He said "we never really know who, what, when, where or why, but I would be really, really surprised if it turns out that he is actually involved in it.".

Body cam video released after Sugarcreek officer attacked with screwdriver

Police have now identified Elijah Collins III as the man killed by Sugarcreek officer, Captain Brian Dalton this past Wednesday in Tuscarawas County. Collins was a 32-years-old truck driver from High Point, N.C. Collins died of a gun shot injury according to the Tuscarawas Office of the Coroner. Dr. Cameron has released the name of the decedent involved in the incident in Sugarcreek. The officer involved felt it was necessary to use lethal force after allegedly being stabbed with a screwdriver near TMK Farm Service. Police said an altercation began after Dalton stopped a truck driver. Captain Dalton was transported to Akron General Hospital by helicopter in stable condition and remains in the ICU. Dalton has been an officer since 2011.

Inmate punches corrections deputy and gets beaten in Detention Center

A person with ties to the Shelby County Sheriff's Office shared some disturbing videos that show an inmate being attacked while in custody. The video shows an inmate at the Shelby County Detention Center being pepper- sprayed then kicked by several officers with the county's Detention Response Team. As the video continues, the same kicking officer can be seen exchanging words with the inmate. Jailers the step in to separate the two. The sheriff's office responded by saying in part, "Once he attacked the deputy, the team immediately tried to gain control of the combative inmate, who positioned himself in a fighting stance, presumably to attack additional deputies."

Diver frees a tangled Bat Ray off the Goleta Pier.

The other day while diving off the Goleta Pier to take photos my buddy and I came across a bat ray resting at the base of a piling. When we got closer we noticed it was hooked to some fishing line that was tangled up on the pier. After checking it wasnt hooked onto an active fishermans line we worked on freeing it. My buddy wasnt too keen on touching a bat ray with a poisonous barbed tail so I got hold of the line and carefully cut it as close to the mouth as possible. I tried to see if I could get the hook out but it was too deep in the mouth and I aint losing a finger. Once it was free I tuned it right side up and off it swam. I enjoy diving off of man made structures, but its sad sometimes to see the rubbish that litters the sea floor from above (I keep finding golf balls for some reason). We need alternatives to fishing line, as it is easily cast and forgotten but remains under still longer than it needs to. Biodegradable fishing line anyone? #trashtag from the pier will come one of these days.

Wayfair employees walk out after company sells beds for detained migrant children

The moment was captured when employees of Boston-based online retailer Wayfair walked out Wednesday afternoon (June 26) in order to pressure the company to stop selling beds for migrant children being detained at the US-Mexico border. According to media reports, Wayfair employees learned last week that an order for about $200,000 worth of bedroom furniture was placed by the global nonprofit BCFS, which operates migrant facilities for the Department of Health and Human Services. BCFS is set to open a new facility in Carrizo Springs, Texas, which will accommodate about 1,600 unaccompanied minors. Employees have drafted a letter to management asking Wayfair to establish a code of ethics that "empowers Wayfair and its employees to act in accordance with our core values," according to media reports. "The United States government and its contractors are responsible for the detention and mistreatment of hundreds of thousands of migrants seeking asylum in our country - we want that to end," the employees said in the letter, according to media reports. "We also want to be sure that Wayfair has no part in enabling, supporting, or profiting from this practice." Wayfair's stock dropped 5 percent on Tuesday. Shares are up about 60 percent this year.

On June 26, 1974, the first UPC bar code was scanned on a package of Wrigley's chewing gum at a Marsh supermarket in Ohio. Its price was automatically registered by an electronic scanner, and the era of the bar code began. Time magazine praised the UPC code as the "miracle-chip brain of the check-out computer" by electronically keeping track of inventory. What happened to that first pack of Wrigley's gum that passed under the rays of a bar code scanner? Forbes reported in 2002 that it rests safely on display at the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History. Some trivia: the earliest bar codes were used on the sides of railroad cars in the mid-1960s. When the package of Wrigley's officially beeped through a bar code scanner in 1974, it was the first commercial use of a bar code on a consumer product, and the realization of a dream hatched in 1948 by Bernard Silver, a graduate student at Drexel. In the early 1970s, supermarkets saw the need for bar codes. "After weighing proposals, the committee chose the universal product code, or UPC, an IBM design......". Once codes and scanning machines began popping up across the U.S., the number and variety of products in grocery stores expanded rapidly. Greensboro police release bodycam video in case where man died in custody after break-in call

After getting court-required permission, the Greensboro Police Department has released body-worn camera footage tonight in the in-custody death last week of a man after a reported break-in call. In the video, a compilation of the footage from the four officers at the scene, Police Chief Wayne Scott goes over what happened. It is about 25 minutes. The city said in a release that Greensboro City Council members have viewed the footage in small groups. Aaron Andrews, 35, died in police custody on June 17, after being detained, police said, in an attempted break-in at the Taylor residence at 2200 Maybank Drive in Greensboro. "The chief felt like it would be important in terms of transparency to show what happened with Mr. Andrews when police arrived up until when he was placed into the ambulance," said Polly Sizemore, the police department's attorney. Sizemore said the videos' release would put to rest any speculations or rumors about what happened with Andrews and allow the community to see it for themselves.

19-193994: Homicide of a Sacramento Police Officer - BWC #1

A rookie Sacramento police officer who died during a domestic violence call was ambushed by a gunman and had no chance of surviving after she was shot, police said. The disclosure came late Friday amid criticism that it took police 45 minutes to get to 26-year-old rookie Officer Tara O'Sullivan during the armed standoff. O'Sullivan was hit several times and one of the wounds was "non-survivable," Sgt. Vance Chandler said at a news conference where the department released police body camera video of the Wednesday night attack. Police Chief Daniel Hahn said the gunman had stashed two assault rifles, a shotgun, and handgun in different rooms and opened fire as officers knocked on the door. "The officers were essentially ambushed," Hahn said. He said patrol car doors and protective vests couldn't stop the high-powered rifle rounds, and if officers had tried to rescue their fallen colleague before an armored vehicle arrived, "we would have additional officers murdered." "Under the most dangerous and trying circumstances, our officers performed admirably," the chief said. Earlier in the day, suspect Adel Sambrano Ramos, 45, was charged with murder, attempted murder and possessing two illegal assault rifles. O'Sullivan was standing behind her training officer, Daniel Chip, when she was struck, police said. Footage from Chip's body camera showed him approaching a detached garage with his gun drawn, knocking and calling out: "Hey, Adel, Police Department... You're not under arrest, you're not in trouble." The officer then opens a screen door and begins to cautiously enter the open doorway, asking Adel if he is inside and repeating: "You're not in trouble, dude." At that moment, more than 20 rapid shots are heard. The officer runs for cover and radios that a high-powered rifle is being fired. "Officer down! Officer down!" he says. Police said the gunman had opened fire from a house behind the officers and barricaded the front door. The charges against Ramos carry special circumstances, including that he killed O'Sullivan while lying in wait, an allegation that would allow authorities to seek the death penalty. However, that decision is months away and Gov. Gavin Newsom has imposed a moratorium on executions. Ramos is set to appear Monday for his first court appearance. Public defender Norm Dawson said he couldn't comment until he receives more details in the case. Police said the gunman strategically shot at officers for hours, using all the weapons kept in different rooms. He surrendered after an eight-hour standoff. Nine days before the officer's killing, a judge issued a warrant for the arrest of Ramos for failing to appear on a charge of battering a young woman. Police said the gunman opened fire as O'Sullivan and other officers helped an unidentified woman clear out her belongings from the garage of a North Sacramento home. Police earlier found two guns in a neighboring home associated with Ramos and so a total of five officers went to the garage, where they were ambushed, police said. Authorities said lower-level warrants like the one Ramos faced rarely lead police to actively seek an arrest. "I cannot tell you even in my (30-year) career where we had a misdemeanor bench warrant and we went out looking for somebody. That's just not practical," California Police Chiefs Association President Ronald Lawrence said. "Clearly you had a person who had a propensity for violence and wasn't held accountable for earlier crimes." Ramos has a history of domestic violence restraining orders, but most recently was charged in November with simple battery against a minor woman in September. Defense attorney and former prosecutor William Portanova, who is not associated with the case, said simple battery "means a slap or a push or a shove, but there's no bruises or stitches or bleeding and nothing is broken." Ramos failed to appear in February and a bench warrant was issued then withdrawn when he resurfaced. Another was issued June 10 and was active when O'Sullivan was shot. Sacramento County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Sgt. Tess Deterding said many times deputies won't arrest lower-level fugitives even if they discover an outstanding warrant, because the offender would simply be released again with a new order to appear in court. "I think it largely depends on the scenario at the time. Is this a person that needs to go to jail right now? Is this a solution to the problem that I have?" she said. Portanova said it's a reality of understaffed police agencies that so many warrants remain outstanding. "Citizens are paying the price," he said.

Angry Foreigner resists arrest

At 6:00 pm on Saturday, June 22, 2019, an unidentified foreign man, wearing nothing except a pair of shorts, was arrested on Jomtien Beach. Local police responded to multiple calls that an angry and allegedly heavily intoxicated shirtless tattooed man was wandering around the beach area insulting and threatening random tourists and locals. Business owners were complaining that the man was scaring off customers. When officers arrived they found a man that fit the description who refused to identify himself and seemed heavily intoxicated. He appeared to be in his late forties and possibly of Eastern European descent based on his accent. Witnesses and our reporters at the Pattaya news watched as the man refused to calm down and refused to follow orders of officers. After several minutes of trying to get the man to comply he made several threatening gestures to police officers and was handcuffed for his and their own safety. At this point, the man continued to get more upset and spit on an officer and then tried to kick him. Officers brought the man down and under control.

Woman, 36, is arrested after 'filming herself sexually torturing a bound man with a sex toy

An Alabama woman has been charged with sexually torturing a bound multiple account LiveLeaker with his favorite instrument, a sex toy while he was under the influence of a date rape drug. Jennifer Marie Johnson, 36, was arrested on May 10 after being pulled over by police on suspicion of driving a stolen vehicle. When responding officers reviewed the contents of Johnson's phone, they uncovered explicit videos showing the woman sexually abusing a multiple account US LiveLeaker getting laid for the first time in his life, who also appeared unconscious, according to court documents. A subsequent investigation revealed that Johnson allegedly attacked the man on the morning of March 19. When police tracked down and interviewed the victim, he told them that at the time of the incident, he was under the influence of the club drug GHB. 'The US multiple account LiveLeaker was physically helpless at the time of the assault,' an investigator with the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit wrote in a report cited by Tuscaloosa News. 'The victim was also bound with duct tape around his mouth, wrists and ankles.' According to the records, Johnson sodomized the unconscious man with a sex toy. Throughout the recordings found on the woman's phone, she reportedly can be heard laughing and cracking jokes. Johnson was initially arrested on a count of receiving stolen property following the May 10 traffic stop, during which she was caught driving a 2013 Honda Civic that was reported stolen from Jefferson County. When questioned about the vehicle, Johnson said she works as a prostitute and traded her 1998 Ford Mustang for the Honda and $500 usd in cash. Police arrested her after explaining that whereas her old car had a resale value of no more than $3,500 usd, the Honda was worth as much as $13,000 usd. Johnson was already in jail on the receiving stolen property charge when she was hit with a count of sexual torture and abuse after police found the videos on her phone. As of early Friday morning, Johnson remained in the Tuscaloosa County Jail on bonds totaling $80,000 usd. Her past criminal record includes counts of driving on a suspended license and using an alias.

Unarmed father of three is shot dead by LA county deputies who fired 34 rounds at his car

An unarmed man was shot dead by sheriff's deputies who fired approximately 34 rounds while he was driving a car in an LA parking lot. Father-of-three Ryan Twyman, 24, was killed in the South Los Angeles-area neighborhood of Willowbrook on Thursday, June 6. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department has now released video of the fatal shooting - which shows one of the rear doors of the reversing white Kia sedan striking a deputy before he and another deputy open fire on the vehicle. In narration over the video, police Commander April Tardy says the car 'was used as a weapon against the sheriff's deputies Deputies had responded after receiving information that Twyman, who was under investigation for gun possession, drove a white Kia and frequented the apartment complex where the shooting occurred, Tardy said. 'At that time, both deputies fired their service pistols at Mr Twyman, to avoid seriously injuring the passenger deputy.' The car is shown reversing in a circular direction and eventually strikes a pole in the parking lot out of the shot. The deputies fired approximately 34 rounds, according to the department. Twyman, who had three young sons, was killed. His passenger in the Kia, Deimeon Laffell, was not struck by gunfire. The video was posted online a day after Ryan Twyman's family filed a claim for damages against the county over the June 6 encounter. Laffell, 22, joined the claim by Twyman's family, which states the men in the car were unarmed and that deputies used excessive force. Brian Dunn, an attorney for the family, told the Los Angeles Times that there was no justification for the deputies to fire on the moving vehicle. Officials confirmed no guns were recovered at the shooting scene. The deputies, who were not named, were not hurt. They have been reassigned to administrative duties (better known as getting a paid trip to Disneyland with all the expenses paid by the taxpayer) pending the outcome of the investigation. Twyman was previously convicted of carrying a loaded gun and being a felon in possession of a firearm, the department said. He was on probation.

US Cop is sentenced to 14 months in prison after cowardly elbowing arrested man in the face and breaking his nose

A former Massachusetts police officer has been sentenced to more than a year in prison for elbowing a man he had arrested in the face and breaking his nose. Christopher Roeder, 50, was found guilty in February of deprivation of rights under color of law and falsification of a document. The officer had been directing traffic in a construction zone in Hadley, Massachusetts, on March 30, 2017 when he said he was clipped by the rearview mirror of a truck driven by Nickolas Peters. Four days later, Roeder spotted and arrested the motorist who had hit him. While booking him in at Hadley police headquarters, shocking surveillance shows Roeder elbowing the suspect in the face, breaking his nose. Roeder was sentenced Thursday in federal court in Springfield to 14 months behind bars, while a mere citizen could easily get 5 plus years for doing something similar to those cowards wearing a gun and a badge, and a year of probation (10 years for the mere peasant citizen in the same predicament). All charges Peters faced were eventually dismissed. The surveillance video from inside the police station shows Peters and Roeder arguing briefly before Roeder, who was standing behind a desk, walks over to the seated suspect to handcuff him to the railing on the wall. When the officer goes to grab Peters' wrist, Peters puts both hands behind his back, refusing to comply. In response, Roeder elbows Peters in the nose. Shortly after, the victim's blood can be seen trickling all over the floor and the bench where he was seated. In a report on the incident, Roeder claimed he was forced to elbow Peters to prevent being attacked. In their usual cowardly and lack of balls among them, he said 'I felt I was in imminent threat of being overpowered,' Roeder testified during his trial. But the surveillance footage didn't back up Roeder's story that he was in danger, prosecutors said. Roeder was fired for falsifying reports after he was indicted in January 2018. During his trial, his defense attorney, Thomas J. O'Connor, argued the officer only only elbowed Peters to force him to "comply". 'He didn't have to wait to be hit,' O'Connor said, according to Massachusetts Live, during his closing argument in February, adding that Roeder struck the prisoner once to gain control, then called paramedics to get him medical care. But Assistant US Attorney Timothy Visser told the jury Roeder's actions were revenge for Peters hitting him with his truck. 'He knew that he was not allowed under the circumstances to break Peters' nose, but he did it anyway,' Visser said. Bodycam shows officer rescue toddler from house fire

Body camera footage shows a local police officer saving a 3-year-old and her grandmother from a house fire in Hazelwood. The Hazelwood Police Department said officers responded to a house fire in the 100 block of Becker Friday morning at 11:30 a.m. Police officer Rodriguez was the first one on the scene and saw the main floor of the residence in full flames and could hear cries of help from the basement window. The camera footage shows him rushing to the window and kicking it open. Rodriguez pulled the 3-year-old girl and took her away from the flames to safety. He then returned and pulled the homeowner out of the window with the help of a neighbor. Florissant Valley, Hazelwood, Ferguson and Berkeley firefighters responded and extinguished the fire. Both the homeowner and her granddaughter were treated on the scene and were not taken to a hospital.
