It seems like the multi cultural residents of Southall, can't get along with each other. Here some boys in face masks smashed up a car, probably because of a dispute over drugs or money. Its all kicking off everywhere in London now because people just can't get along with each other peacefully.

Europe agrees to back UN resolution condemning Hamas

The European Union agreed to support a US-sponsored United Nations General Assembly resolution condemning Hamas, following negotiations with Washington, diplomats said Thursday. The draft resolution will likely be voted on in the United Nations General Assembly on Monday. After the US agreed to make some changes to the initial draft, the EU on Thursday agreed to support the text. All 28 EU member states are expected to vote in favor "All 28 members will support the US text," a European diplomat told AFP. If adopted, the resolution would be the first General Assembly vote to condemn the Palestinian terrorist group. The EU's support dramatically increases its chances of passing, though it is unclear whether it will guarantee the needed simple majority among the UN's 193 member states. Earlier this week, European diplomats said there were disagreements on the proposed US text, notably including references to UN resolutions and to the two-state solution. The Europeans had asked, and the Americans agreed, to insert a clause that states that a future Israeli-Palestinian peace deal should be "in accordance with international law, and bearing in mind relevant UN resolutions." However, the draft still does not make explicit mention of a two-state solution, though virtually all recently passed UN resolutions passed on the subject do. Both the US and the EU recognize Hamas as a terrorist organization. The new draft of resolution, entitled, "Activities of Hamas and Other Militant Groups in Gaza," also makes explicit mention of Palestinian Islamic Jihad, another militant group with a large presence in the Gaza Strip. The draft "condemns Hamas for repeatedly firing rockets into Israel and for inciting violence, thereby putting civilians at risk" and demands that "Hamas and other militant actors including Palestinian Islamic Jihad cease all provocative actions and violent activity, including by using airborne incendiary devices." It further condemns Hamas's use of sources in Gaza "construct military infrastructure, including tunnels to infiltrate Israel and equipment to launch rockets into civilian areas, when such resources could be used to address the critical needs of the civilian population." What is the G20 summit and why does it matter?

Leaders from the world's largest economic powerhouses converged in Buenos Aires, Argentina for the G20 summit on Friday. Global politicians in attendance include British Prime Minister Theresa May, French President Emmanuel Macron, Russia's Vladimir Putin, US President Donald Trump and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Euronews correspondent Vincent McAviney is at the summit and has explained what it is and why it matters. What is the G20? The G20 is made up of the world's 19 biggest economies and the European Union. The group of 20 accounts for 85% of the world's GDP and two-thirds of its population. What is the summit and how often does it happen? The G20 summit has taken place every year for the past 10 years, to discuss world affairs. "Part of this is looking back at what they've achieved since the group came about at the height of the financial crisis," McAviney said. "The first meeting was in fact here [Buenos Aires], held by Gordon Brown back in 2008." What will be discussed this year? At this years summit, the group will discuss reforms that need to be made to world trade and issues such as climate change, the alleged murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi by Saudi agents, and Russia's actions in Ukraine. Hundreds of butterflies cluster on a rotting pile in rare feeding behaviour

Butterflies migrating through south India put on a rare display, gathering in a dense swarm around a muddy pool in a unique feeding tactic last Friday (November 23). At the Aralam Wildlife Sanctuary in Kerala state, wildlife watcher Biju Thenkudi was conducting a natural study camp and while trying to demonstrate how to approach butterflies, observed a swarm of the insects in a single spot. This tactic, called 'mud-puddling', is an insect behaviour most often seen among butterflies, where they densely swarm around rotting or muddy matter and consume rare nutrients from the slime produced by its decay. This area of southwest India is known to have an ongoing butterfly migration every year from the end of November to the beginning of January. The migration route is always through open areas like rivers and roads with thousands coming through every day, often resting between 12:00pm to 2:00pm.

A British member of parliament has been applauded in the House of Commons after revealing he is HIV Positive. Labour MP Lloyd Russell-Moyle spoke out ahead of World Aids Day tomorrow and his colleagues have called his speech brave and moving. "I wanted to be able to stand here in this place and say to those who are living with HIV that their status does not define them," said Russell-Moyle, who has been an MP since 2017. "We can be whoever we want to be, and to those who have not been tested, maybe because of fear, I say to you: it is better to live in knowledge than to die in fear." The end of his speech was met with a standing ovation. A recent study by the European Centre for Disease Control and WHO showed that the number of new diagnoses in Europe spiked in 2017, particularly in Eastern Europe. What a surprise! Macron greeted by 'yellow vest' in Argentina

French President Emmanuel Macron probably didn't expect to be greeted by a man wearing a yellow vest more than 11,000 kilometres away from home. A few minutes after landing in Buenos Aires, Argentina, for the G20 meeting, Macron was greeted by an airport employee wearing a yellow security vest - the kind that people participating in fuel tax hike protests, dubbed the "gilets jaunes", are wearing. The airport employee was not part of the movement but wore the flashy clothing for security reasons. However, that did not stop social media users from sharing photos of the ironic situation online. Local and French people belonging to the movement shared jokes about the encounter. "So crazy that Macron was greeted by a guy in a yellow vest," said user CarlosDecano77. With the Argentinian delegation late to greet them, Macron and his wife Brigitte walked downt the plane's steps, only to be greeted by another member of airport staff with a yellow vest. The French presidential couple was about to get into their car when the Argentinian vice-president Gabriela Michetti arrived to welcome them. Macron is in the Argentinian capital for four days attending the G20 summit where leaders will discuss trade relations. The summit has been overshadowed by escalating tensions between Russia and Ukraine over a maritime standoff. US President Donald Trump has cancelled an upcoming meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Buenos Aires based on the fact that the Ukrainian ships and sailors seized by Russia on Sunday have not been returned.

On your marks, get set, drone!

Drone racing has proven one of the hits at the Amsterdam Drone Week event. The controllers' use Virtual Reality goggles and a stick control to manoeuvre their drones. And need all their wits about them, with their drones reaching speeds of more than 100km/h (62mph). Lars Sang Mo Boom, one of the founders of the Drone Racing World Series, says that the most important skill participants need to master "is the capacity to have 3D imaging within your brain in a split of a second." "You can have stick control, you can be a very good pilot, but if you can not react in that millisecond, then you will crash. So it's all of those skills you need to have, together with knowing how to build your drone, how to make it better and how to stay ahead in the competition," he says. The spectators also need VR goggles in order to enjoy the race, and the same vision as the individual competitors.

Merkel to miss G20 start after plane suffers 'serious malfunction'

The German Chancellor Angela Merkel will miss the opening of the G20 summit in Argentina after a technical problem forced her government plane to turn back. The Airbus A340 aircraft carrying Merkel and her delegation to the Group of 20 summit of industrialised nations encountered difficulties an hour into the 15-hour flight to Buenos Aires. It made an unscheduled but safe landing at Cologne-Bonn airport. The German leader and Finance Minister Olaf Scholz were due to resume their journey early on Friday, flying to Argentina via Madrid, but will arrive after world leaders start their discussions. "It was a serious malfunction," Merkel told reporters from Bonn, where her delegation was taken to a hotel. "Luckily we had an excellent crew and the most experienced pilot of the special air mission wing." The plane's captain told passengers he had decided to land after the "malfunction of several electronic systems," but added that there had been no security risk. Der Spiegel magazine reported that the entire communication system malfunctioned, constituting a serious emergency, saying the crew were forced to plan the landing using an on-board satellite phone. Government sources said Merkel had planned bilateral meetings in Buenos Aires with the presidents of the United States, , Russia and India. She is unlikely to arrive until Friday evening and it was not immediately clear which meetings would have to be rescheduled.

Theresa May promises to deliver tough messages for fellow G20 leaders

Flying to the G20 in Buenos Aires British Prime Minister Theresa May issued a series of warnings to fellow world leaders. Saudi Arabia When asked by whether she will be following President Trump who said he'd still shake the hand of the Saudi Crown Prince in spite of the alleged murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, May responded: "Well I'm intending to speak with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, the message that I give will be very clear. It's the message that we have consistently given on this issue of Jamal Khashoggi but also on the issue of Yemen." She added: "In relation to Khashoggi we want to see a full and transparent investigation in relation to what happened and obviously those responsible being held to account. On the issue of the Yemen we continue to be deeply concerned about the humanitarian situation, we want the long-term solution to the Yemen to be a political situation and we'll be encouraging all parties to look for that and work for that political situation." Like the US, the UK has a substantial trade, intelligence and security relationship with the Kingdom, May will have to both distance herself from the Crown Prince publicly and tread lightly privately to preserve those ties for after Brexit. Russia Asked what she will be saying to Russian President Vladimir Putin May said: "Our message to Russia is very clear, they should release the ships and sailors, de-escalate the situation. If you look at what we have seen just over the last year or so this is part of a pattern of Russian behaviour." On whether further sanctions are required May renewed calls, "We have always been at the forefront in the EU of calling for sanctions on Russia in relation to its behaviour. We will continue for what we consider to be appropriate sanctions on Russia." The Prime Minister made no mention of the Salisbury poisonings. Britain blames the Russian GRU intelligence agency for but rebuked recent Kremlin policy stating: "Russia could take a different road, Russia could support the rules-based international system and if it did that its position would be a different one. It is choosing to continue with this pattern of behaviour." Argentina Theresa May is the first British Prime Minister to have visited Buenos Aires and only the second British Prime Minister to have visited Argentina. The countries have a fractured relationship following the Falklands War in 1982 in which the then military dictatorship was defeated but at a cost of 649 Argentinians and 255 British servicemen. Over 35 years later many Argentinians are still unhappy with British sovereignty of the islands, which they call Las Malvinas, despite the islanders themselves voting 99.8% to stay a British territory in a 2013 referendum. They still though accuse Britain of colonialism and former President Kercher tried to confront former Prime Minister David Cameron on the issue at the 2012 G20 in Mexico. Prior to the 2012 London Olympics there was an outcry in Britain when an advert for the Argentinian team secretly filmed on the islands was released showing an athlete training with the message "to compete on British soil we train on Argentinian soil". Asked whether she too like her predecessor Margaret Thatcher would send a task force to defend the islands if threatened May said "I'm clear that our position on the sovereignty of the Falklands as not changed. But what has changed in recent months is that we have seen better relations with Argentina." Singling a desire for better relations post Brexit she added, "I think the announcement we saw earlier this week of the extra flight for the Falklands through to South America is important. It's important for the Falklands. It's important in showing a different relationship developing. I'll be talking to President Macri about issues around trade, about the opportunities for trade. But our position on the sovereignty of the Falklands has not changed and will not change." Pushed on sending in the military she simply reiterated, "Our position has not changed on the sovereignty of the Falklands." WTO The Prime Minister also had her sights on reforming the WTO with Britain taking up its independent seat at the WTO post-Brexit, "We do see the need for reform. Just to mention a couple of areas, there's a lot of concern that dispute resolution takes too long in the WTO so we'll be pressing on that." Like most countries, the UK is struggling to regulate the likes of internet giants like Facebook, Google and Amazon. The Prime Minister believes the WTO is one forum to build consensus on this: "the need to deliver on the issue of digital matters because the WTO has been looking at this for some time and we want to see it actually coming to a resolution in a good way that can be of benefit to the UK and others."

Chinese Tourist BOTTLED After Refusing To Tip Strippers

A Chinese tourists was smashed over the head with a bottle in the early hours of the morning November 29 after he refused to tip two strip club dancers. Yang Zhan, 25, had been drinking at the Taboo Club in Pattaya, Thailand, while groping the gogo dancers - allegedly without buying them a drink or tipping them. Female staff at the venue eventually complained that he was ''too mean'' and Yang became noisy, then stormed out of the bar after paying for his bottle of beer. But a bouncer stopped him at the doorway to demand he apologise for his behaviour, before a crowd of bikini-clad sex workers surrounded him and he was hit in the head. Police broke up the fracas before Yang, the bouncer and two dancers were taken to the local police station for questioning. The Chinese holidaymaker's head wound was bandaged up. His t-shirt had also been torn in the brawl.

Net migration of EU citizens to UK hits 6-year low

Arrivals from the EU to Britain are at their lowest level since 2012, extending a decline seen since Britain voted to leave the European Union in 2016, But according to the latest figures from the Office for National Statistics, net immigration to the country rose in the first half of 2018. Data covering the year to June showed net migration to Britain of non-EU citizens rose to a record 248,000 in the year to June 2018 - the highest since 2004, thanks to a surge in student numbers. The number of EU citizens moving to Britain, minus those leaving, dropped to 74,000 over the period, its lowest since late 2012 and down 28 percent compared with the year to June 2017. "These latest statistics highlight the continuing trend of falling net EU migration amid growing shortages across all skills levels in the UK," said Matthew Fell, chief UK policy director at the Confederation of British Industry. An analysis of different Brexit scenarios published by the government on Wednesday showed losses to economic growth would worsen significantly if net migration from EU citizens was to fall to zero. The figures showed a net fall in immigration from the eight eastern European countries that joined the EU in 2004, hundreds of thousands of whose citizens moved to Britain over the past decade. However, tens of thousands of immigrants continued to arrive from the EU's two poorest members, Romania and Bulgaria, whose citizens have only been able to work legally in Britain on an unrestricted basis since 2014. Overall net migration, combining EU and non-EU citizens as well as a net outflow of 49,000 citizens, stood at 273,000 in the year to June 2018. Euronews correspondent, Isabelle Kumar crunches some of those figures:

US Senate in move to end military support for Saudis in Yemen

The US Senate has voted to advance a resolution to end US military support for the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen's civil war, setting the stage for a possible final vote on the measure within days. The resolution still needs another vote to be debated on the floor, and then a final vote, although the White House has indicated plans to shelve the measure when it reaches the president's desk. Many senators are unhappy with Mr Trump's response to the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi. US media say the CIA believes Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman ordered his killing. The move was a blow to US president Donald Trump's administration, which has made clear it does not want to torpedo the long-standing US relationship with Riyadh over the killing. Bhanu Bhatnagar, spokesperson for Save the Children in London, says the resolution is largely symbolic but is still a step in the right direction. "The war has dragged on for far too long and involves some of the world's biggest superpowers who are continually allowed to fund the warring parties," he says. Saudi Arabia and other Gulf Arab states have been battling in Yemen since 2015 to restore a government driven out by the Houthis - Shi'ite Muslim fighters that Yemen's neighbours view as agents of Iran. The war has killed more than 10,000 people and created the world's most urgent humanitarian emergency. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the United States would provide an additional $131 million for food aid in Yemen.

Kabul: Taliban attack on British security compound kills at least 10

At least 10 people were killed and 19 injured after a blast in front of a British security compound on Wednesday, officials said. A Taliban suicide bomber detonated explosives in front of security firm G4S' site in eastern Kabul. A gun battle between other insurgents and security forces unfolded shortly after, Afghanistan Interior Ministry spokesperson Najib Danish said. The Taliban, who have taken over nearly half of Afghanistan in recent years, claimed the attack in a statement posted on Twitter. The assault came hours after 30 civilians were killed in an overnight battle between Afghan forces and Taliban fighters in southern Helmand province. A G4S spokesperson confirmed five of their employees were killed in the "unprovoked, criminal attack," including one British national. "We are committed to our security role in support of the people of Afghanistan, and we are determined that incidents such as this will not prevent the vital work that the international community conducts from continuing," Charlie Burbridge, Managing Director of G4S, said. US and NATO troops formally concluded their combat mission in Afghanistan in 2014, but still provide close support to Afghan forces and carry out counterterrorism operations. Some 15,000 American forces are currently serving in Afghanistan, AP reports.
