Michigan House Won't Extend State of Emergency, Votes to Sue Gov. Gretchen Whitmer Instead

Another out of control Democrat. But wait the Michigan House of Representatives declined to extend Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's state of emergency another 28 days, and instead voted on Thursday to sue her. Whitmer's initial state of emergency order, which is separate from the stay-at-home order, expires on Thursday and requires legislative action to be lengthened. Negotiations on that front fell apart on Wednesday when Whitmer refused to make any concessions on the matter, asserting she has the ultimate control of emergencies. So the House voted to authorize Speaker Lee Chatfield to sue the governor, saying Whitmer's "unchecked and undemocratic approach" is not the best way, ABC 12 reported. "The current status quo relies on one-size-fits-all edicts that unfairly punish millions of people across the state without giving them any recourse or voice in the process," Chatfield said. "The people deserve a better solution, and we can provide it." The House also passed a resolution restricting a governor's state of emergency declarations to 14 days. Whitmer has vowed to veto that legislation. Hundreds of protesters gathered outside the capitol and demanded the state be reopened. "We want Michigan open, we want Michigan back to work," Jason Howland, one of the protest organizers, told Fox 17. "We put the event together, we put it on Facebook, and we heard that they were taking down events that had to do with protests or rallies against the wishes of Whitmer," he said. Facebook confirmed it removed the protest page "because the event would have defied government guidance on social distancing," the site reported. "If I go to a protest social distancing and follow the rules created by the people I'm protesting against, I look pretty silly at the end of the day I feel," Howland said. State Sen. Dayna Polehanki, a Democrat from Livonia, posted on Twitter that "men with rifles" were in the Senate gallery and "yelling at us." Polehanki claimed some of her colleagues "who own bullet proof vests" were wearing them. The Senate is expected to vote on a similar resolution authorizing leaders to pursue legal action against Whitmer's orders.

Video shows moments before Tenderloin officer shoots at man armed with screwdriver

Authorities in San Francisco on Thursday released video footage and 911 calls from a police shooting that led to an hours-long standoff at a community center in the Tenderloin last week. During a town hall meeting held virtually due to the coronavirus, Police Chief Bill Scott and his brass detailed the incident that started with an assault on the early morning of April 21. Police identified the suspect in the shooting as Thomas E. O'Bannon, 31. The officer who shot at O'Bannon is Jordan Townsend, an officer from Tenderloin Police Station. O'Bannon was not struck by gunfire, according to Commander Robert O'Sullivan. The series of incidents began when O'Bannon allegedly used a wooden board to attack a man who was walking his dog on the 400 block of Post Street at around 5:30 a.m., police said. The man suffered facial injuries including a bloody nose. About an hour later, O'Bannon allegedly locked himself in an office at the lobby of the Pierre Hotel at 540 Jones St. A 911 caller said he had a bloody wooden board and possibly a knife.

'I felt like I had to come here to this ship because I need help,' Prim cried in the video. 'I feel like I'm the coronavirus' Prim identified herself as an entertainer (AKA Stripper) who goes by the stage name Nikita Steele. She told cops that she was at home a couple weeks ago, decorating costumes, and that, 'I was watching the press conferences with Comrade Donald Trumpturdsky on TV. I felt like he was talking to me, okay?' As she rambled on, one of the cops asked, 'Are you taking any medications?' Prim told them she smokes marijuana regularly. She cried and initially resisted as officers told her to step out of the vehicle. 'I want you know I'm on FaceShite Live right now, okay?' she said. 'Don't open the door because I'm on FaceShite Live.' She eventually emerged. An officer placed her in handcuffs, explaining it was 'for your safety and mine.' Driver nearly collides with semi, goes wrong-way on I-71 during police chase

Newly released dash-cam video shows an eventful police chase where the suspect enters Interstate-71 going the wrong direction. The video was released by the Warren County Sheriff's Office Wednesday. The chase began last Tuesday, April 21 around 5:30 p.m. after Deputy Jason Roberts observed a green Hyundai Accent drive through the intersection of Stubbs Mill Road and Shawhan Road without stopping. According to the incident report, Roberts says the car had two occupants, including a male driver, later identified as Nathan King, 34, and a female passenger. In the incident report, Roberts wrote: "I suspected the driver to be impaired due to failing to stop at such a dangerous intersection." Later, at the time of his arrest, King reportedly admitted to being high on Percocet. He also reportedly told police he'd fled because he and his passenger had just picked up a large amount of heroin. Roberts pursued King at a high speed as he wove through country roads, once hitting a stop sign, then ignoring a stop light and several more stop signs, then passing several cars despite a double-yellow line. Roberts says King only increased his speed as the deputy turned his cruiser's lights on. King just avoided hitting a semi-truck as he entered the S.R. 123 exit ramp off I-71, Roberts says. King then began driving southbound on I-71 North and continued until mile post 31, where he reportedly did a U-turn into oncoming traffic. Deputy Dakota Tuck took over of the pursuit as King left the interstate going south on S.R. 123, then east on S.R. 350, "almost causing several accidents" int he process, according to Tuck. Speeds ranged from 80-100 mph, Tuck says, and King wasn't able to control the car through turns, almost hitting a guard rail on the opposite side of the rod near Camp Kern. King tried to "brake check" Tuck in Clarksville. As other jurisdictions and OSHP joined in the pursuit, Tuck reports King "continued (...) all over the road, almost causing several more accidents." Deputies eventually found King's car abandoned in Washington Township. King has been charged for failure to comply, speeding, driving left of center and obeying traffic control devices.

Officer beating a 14-year-old

On April 27, 2020, a Problem Oriented Policing (POP) Officer with the Rancho Cordova Police Department was proactively patrolling the area of Mills Station Road and Mather Field Road. The deputy was in the area due to complaints from citizens about hand-to-hand sales of alcohol, tobacco and drugs to minors. It's important to put video footage into context, especially in relation to a use of force incident. In this case, the deputy saw what he believed to be a hand-to-hand exchange between an adult and juvenile. As the deputy turned around, he lost sight of the adult, who left the area. When the deputy approached the juvenile, the juvenile was uncooperative and refused to give the deputy basic identifying information. He told the deputy he was 18 years old. Having reasonable suspicion that criminal activity was occurring, the deputy attempted to detain the juvenile so he could conduct further investigation. The juvenile became physically resistive at that time, causing the deputy to lose control of his handcuffs, which landed several feet away. The deputy attempted to maintain control of the juvenile without his handcuffs and while alone waiting for his partners to arrive and assist him. Ultimately, the deputy recovered tobacco products from the 14-year-old juvenile, which is presumably the reason for his resistance. The juvenile was cited and released to his guardians. This type of situation is hard on everyone--the young man, who resisted arrest, and the officer, who would much rather have him cooperate. The community should know our deputies have a heart for the Rancho Cordova community, especially for the youth they serve through the schools, PAL sports, and our new Youth Center.

Robbed, carjacked by thug in Houston

On Thursday, March 26, 2020 at 6:29 pm, the complainants (husband and wife) parked across the street of a house having a garage sale at the 100 block of West Sunnyside, in Houston, Texas. The male complainant stated that an unknown male approached him while standing in front of the house having the garage sale. The suspect was pointing a handgun at him while demanding his wallet and keys. The suspect took the complainants wallet, but he informed him that he did not have his keys, which were still in the vehicle. The suspect did not believe the complainant and attempted to strike him in the head with the gun on several occasions. The suspect eventually got into the complainants vehicle and fled the scene. The complainants vehicle was located a short while later abandoned in a vacant wooded lot at Wheatley and Wall Street. On Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at 10:36 pm, two unknown males approach the complainants as they were at the Rosales Taco Stand, located at 6301 Ashcroft, in Houston, Texas. The suspects pointed their weapons towards the complainant as they went through his pockets, taking his property. The suspects then focused their attention towards the second complainant, who was sitting in his vehicle, and took his property while pointing their handguns towards him. As the suspects were leaving, one of the suspects fired his weapon towards the complainant, striking the taco truck, narrowly missing the complainant. The suspects then fled the location in a light colored Honda Passport or Isuzu Rodeo and a silver Infinity G35 or G37. Houston PD #301022-20 Suspect #1: Hispanic male, 20-30 years old, short height, slim build, short black hair, wearing a royal blue shirt, dark colored pants, dark colored bandana around his neck, and armed with a long silver revolver. Officers shoot man during incident

Three officers were involved a shooting in Vancouver late Tuesday morning. No word on the condition of the man who was shot, however, authorities say the three officers involved were not hurt. Initial reports state that officers were called to a report of two men fighting near the intersection of Fourth Plain and Stapleton Road. One of the men allegedly refused police commands to put down "sharpened objects." KATU News spoke to a witness, Brendon Cataldo, was at the nearby convenience store when he saw the incident and decided to record it.

Police chase Bobcat. Bocat evades police

Lapel video shows a police chase after a thief stole some construction equipment. It's not everyday you see a Bobcat tractor out on the streets at night, a definite red flag for police. With flashing lights and sirens blaring earlier this month in Santa Fe, officers tried to get the driver of the Bobcat to pull over. As the video shows, the driver kept going. Santa Fe Police say the tractor was stolen earlier in the night from a construction site on Rufina Street. Once officers caught up with the driver, he continued to ignore their commands. The rare slow-speed police chase was on. At that point, the Bobcat bandit made his move to escape. He even ran over a barbed wire fence and headed into a field. Police say the driver ditched the Bobcat in the filed and ran toward an apartment complex. After poking around the complex, police came up empty-handed. In the most police cop out response ever, police say they gave up on the chase because they were afraid the thief would use the front-end loader on the Bobcat to damage their cars.

Jamie Iannone, Walmart's chief operating officer for U.S. e-commerce, will take the top job, eBay said Monday in a news release. He will step into the role on April 27. Iannone played a key role in Walmart's digital strategy and was one of the retailer's rising stars. He was credited with growing the membership and online sales of Sam's Club, the retailer's membership-based subsidiary. In late February, he was promoted to lead Walmart's e-commerce business in the U.S. With the new role, Iannone is returning to eBay. He spent nearly eight years at the company as a vice president, according to the news release. Iannone worked at Walmart-owned Sam's Club for about six years. He was previously CEO of SamsClub.com and executive vice president of membership and technology. Before joining Sam's Club, he was executive vice president of digital products at Barnes & Noble, where he helped oversee its Nook devices and digital book business. Sam's Club has served as a test ground for Walmart's digital initiatives. It launched a service called Scan & Go that allows shoppers to skip the line and check out through a smartphone app instead. It has another voice-enabled app, called "Ask Sam," that helps employees find an item or answer customers' questions more quickly. Iannone will succeed Devin Wenig, who left eBay in September. Wenig resigned from his role as eBay faced pressure from two activist investors, Elliott Management and Starboard Value. The hedge funds pushed the company to review its portfolio and consider selling off assets, including its ticket sales service, StubHub, and its classified ads business, to drive up the value of shares. Wenig explained his departure in a tweet, saying that he "was not on the same page as my new Board." About two months after his departure, eBay announced it was selling StubHub to Swiss ticket vendor Viagogo for about $4 billion. During the company's search for a new leader, eBay's chief financial officer, Scott Schenkel, served as its interim CEO. Thomas Tierney, chairman of eBay's board, said in a news release that Iannone was the "ideal CEO to lead eBay's next chapter of growth and success." "We have all been impressed by his strong track record of innovation, execution, operational excellence, and developing teams that drive results," he said.
