Over the past 24 hrs: 110 rockets fired at Israel from Gaza, with several direct hits; IDF hit around 65 targets in Gaza

Thousands of residents spent the night in bomb shelters as Hamas,Islamic Jihad fired around 110 rockets and mortar shells at communities during the last 24 hrs, with several of them hitting inside communities in Israel. One house in the Eshkol region suffered a direct hit, though the family was staying in a sheltered room at the time. Another hit was at a sport facility in the town of Netivot, around midnight. Israel hit around 65 targets in the Gaza Strip. __________ An Islamic Jihad spokesman said a ceasefire agreement was reached with Israel to return to calm. He told AFP that Gaza's Hamas rulers were also committed to it. The Hamas-affiliated Shehab news outlet reported that Egypt helped broker the agreement, which was supposed to come into force at midnight, and later around 5:00 AM, and which was based on the truce reached at the end of the 2014 Gaza war.
