'Karius should've come to me!' Argentine coach's unorthodox keeper drills revealed

A notoriously strict football coach in Argentina gives his players some unorthodox goalkeeping coaching - joking that Liverpool flop Lauris Karius should have visited him. Diego Svery wanted to be a professional but became a taxi driver after an ankle injury cut short his career in Buenos Aires and started coaching youngsters. He became known for his bizarre training methods - including previous videos of players firing balls over a burning fence which the keeper then has to save. Or hanging the keeper upside down from a crossbar with a hood over his face for him to practice catching the ball blindfolded. Svery, boss of Argentinian youth side Club Sportivo Dock Sud, developed his latest technique of rebounding a ball off an angled bench, which a goalie in motorbike helmet has to save after jumping down from a stool. Svery said: ''My goalkeeping training is ahead of its time. This latest exercise improves the keeper's awareness. Never expect the ball to stay in one place. If Karius had come to me for tips I'm sure he wouldn't have made those mistakes.''
