Ernst Heinkel came up with the He280 as a competitor to the Me262. It was actually faster than the ME262 and a more mature design. Heinkel, however, was not the most devoted Nazi and actually lost control of his own company due to this. The 262 did have swept wings, but, this was not a primary design feature. The slight sweep of the wings was actually due to center of gravity concerns as the initial calculations were wrong. The wing sweep was employed to correct this. There could be only one. There were not enough engines to go around and both could never have been produced at the same time. This is not the most complete story on the 280. The music also sucks, but, turn down the volume and enjoy some visuals.
