Shooting @3:27 Mark - Wesley Besgrove, a sheriff's deputy who had been on patrol for one year prior to the incident, shot See during an apparent fight between the two men that started in front of a Dollar General store in Clearlake Oaks, and ended in a nearby creek bed at around 9:50 p.m. See died of his injuries at the scene despite medical aid. Besgrove has been placed on paid leave by the sheriff's office as the Lake County District Attorney conducts an investigation into his use of force during the fatal incident. This is a standard protocol, the sheriff's office has said. "Approximately two weeks prior to this event, deputy Besgrove had investigated a report that Craig See had shot a person in the foot. The victim in that case positively identified See, and deputy Besgrove had submitted his investigation to the district attorney's office. Deputy Besgrove had not been able to locate See prior to Dec. 28-the night of this incident."
