Firefighters patrol roads in Saddleworth as motorists flee fire

This is the moment in the early hours of Thursday that motorists in Greater Manchester were forced to turn around to flee from the ferocious moors fire at Saddleworth, according to an eyewitness. In the clip, filmed by a local journalist called Stuart Littleford, cars can be seen driving away from the fire as firefighters steer the traffic. Mobile phone masts and properties were threatened by the fast-moving blaze, the filmer said. The fire has now been declared a major incident.
