Father shot while shielding his kids from gunfire inside Bronx car dealership. The 39-year-old man and his children were seated on a blue couch in the waiting area at On the Road Automotive Group on Boston Road near Conner St. in Eastchester - when shots rang out at about 7:20am Monday, police said. The glass doors behind them suddenly shatters in the barrage of gunfire. A gunman can be seen running up and firing through an open glass door. The dad scoops his three children off the couch and brings them to the floor, tucking them under his body to shield them. A few seconds later, a second door explodes, sending shards of glass raining down on the couch they were just sitting on - as the dad crawls away with his children, video shows. The dad was struck in the thigh, police said. Medics rushed him to Jacobi Medical Center with a non-life-threatening wound. The shooter stole a green Honda Civic with Georgia plates at the scene and was last seen speeding north on Provost Ave., police said. Investigators believe the shooting is gang-related. A gang member was doing business in the dealership when the gunman, a rival, opened fire, according to police. It was not immediately clear if the father of three was the gunman's target, police said. Workers at the dealership declined to comment.
