High on PCP and wielding a machete at an officer. The family wants answers. Gentle giant reference @ 1:35. Port Arthur, TX, use to be a nice place until.....well you know the drill. About 20 miles from my home but of course we see some spill over. Port Arthur, TX - The Jefferson County District Attorney says a man who a Port Arthur police officer fatally shot on Friday, December 28, had the drug PCP on his possession. That's really the only new information authorities announced at a Monday afternoon news conference. DA Bob Wortham says lab results showed that a pack of cigarettes found in Shayne Lyons' pocket was laced with PCP, a drug known to cause aggressive behavior. Chief Tim Duriso told reporters that the officer saw Lyons carrying a large weapon, a weapon Lyons' brother says was a machete. Duriso says the officer ordered Lyons to drop the weapon several times, but that Lyons kept advancing toward the officer. That's when the chief says the policeman shot several rounds from his service revolver at Lyons, killing him. Lyons' brother, Andre Molo, believes the shooting was unjustified and wonders why the officer didn't use Taser. He says it's legal in Texas to carry a machete. Molo says the officer was not called to the scene, just came upon his brother walking with the machete. (In the middle of the street)
