10-month old baby miraculously survives 36 hours under Magnitogorsk rubble in Russia

A 10-month old baby has miraculously survived around 36 hours in freezing conditions under the rubble of the collapsed residential building in Magnitogorsk. Footage shot by EMERCOM on Tuesday shows the baby boy being rescued. Having previously announced a halt to the rescue operation owing to the risk of the building collapsing further, rescuers leapt into action again after hearing cries from the debris. It is thought the baby survived because he was wrapped up warm in his cot when the building collapsed. The emergency services also employed hot air blowers to stave off the cold. He was taken to a local hospital where he believed to be in a serious, but not life-threatening, condition. At about 6 AM local time (1 AM GMT) on Monday an entire section of a 10-storey tower block in Magnitogorsk collapsed, causing dozens to be trapped under debris. According to the local governor, 50 people were in the building at the time it collapsed.
