Weekend Cinema - stopping on the line.. the railway line. Everyone in the world knows about railway brakes being (sort of, and briefly) as either 'vacuum braked' or 'air-braked' (pneumatic) but little is known about the electromagnetically braked accessory units which are usually used in an emergency or a situation that required extra braking force. (Locomotive and railway braking mechanisms would fill a book...here is a a 'type' of EM System where speed is scrubbed off and dissipated as heat ...the German ICE Intercity Express utilises a similar type as shown below, as does the Japanese Shinkansen 'Bullet Train'). An interesting little film to the cognoscenti..
