Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department's Central Traffic Division are investigating a hit and run traffic collision that resulted in the death of 49-year-old man. On Thursday, July 16, 2020, around 10:25 p.m., a hit and run traffic collision occurred on Vernon Avenue just east of Wall Street. The collision involved a pedestrian who was in the No. 1 lane of westbound Vernon Avenue and was struck by a light-colored SUV. The pedestrian was launched into the eastbound No. 1 lane of Vernon Avenue and then struck by another vehicle described as a light colored 2011-2015 Dodge Charger. Both drivers of the vehicles failed to stop, identify themselves, or render aid. Los Angeles City Fire Department paramedics responded and transported the victim to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. His identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
