2S5 Giatsint-S is a Soviet/Russian 152 mm self-propelled gun. It is NBC protected and is capable of firing nuclear projectiles. Produced from 1976 to 1993. The 2S5 was first used in combat by the Soviet Union in Afghanistan. Russian forces used it in the First Chechen War and Second Chechen War. The 2S5 Giatsint-S was employed by the Ukrainian Army in the War in Donbass in the East of the Ukraine but unsuccessfully. Ground Forces of the Russian Federation have 950 and Russian Navy additional 300 units. Belorussia and the Ukraine had 120 and 18 respectively in 2016. "Giatsint" is the Russian for Hyacinth - a flower. Many of Soviet and Russian canons and mortars were named after flowers after the Second World War.
