Tennessee linebacker Jeremy Banks apologized Tuesday for directing profanity-laced remarks toward the University of Tennessee police officers during his arrest in Knoxville last month on an outstanding warrant. After pulling Banks over for making an illegal U-turn early on the morning of Sept. 15, about 12 hours after the Volunteers' win over Chattanooga, officers discovered that a warrant had been issued for him on Aug. 21 over his failure to appear in court on a July misdemeanor citation for driving with a suspended license. They placed Banks under arrest, put him in handcuffs and had him sit in the back seat of a police car, where he was filmed by an in-car camera. While handcuffed in the back seat, Banks made a number of derogatory statements toward the officers, at one point telling them "y'all wouldn't want to see me without that badge." He also addressed a woman who was participating in a ride-along with the arresting officer. "Ma'am, I don't think you want to be an intern, because where I'm from, we shoot at cops. I'm from Memphis, Tennessee," Banks said in the expletive-filled video, first obtained by WBIR-TV.
