At least eight people were left injured after a car rammed into a crowded pedestrian street in Tokyo on Tuesday morning. Here's what we know so far about the incident. The suspect A police spokesman said the driver had been detained but has not given out any further details on the identity of the suspect. Where did the incident take place? The incident took place shortly after midnight local time as revellers celebrated the new year in the tourist area of Harajuku in central Tokyo. What happened? A 20-year-old man rammed his vehicle into the crowded street, which was closed to traffic at the time for holiday revellers. Japanese television showed a grey coloured vehicle that was badly damaged in the front and dozens of police officers at the scene. According to national broadcaster, NHK, the suspect fled from the scene and assaulted a passerby before he was captured minutes later.
