"War Diary" project | Rural Rif Dimashq Governorate, Syria | August 30th 2018 The Syrian Army continues to overrun the Islamic State in its last stronghold of the eastern countryside of Swiada; seizing more territories from the terror group. Led by the 1st and 3rd Divisions, the Syrian forces imposed full control of Sad Hateel, Hawyt Awad, Wadi Halaweh, Ghader Sous, Hawyt Raseen , Tall Dars and Khirybet Awad. The recent advance sees the government troops in control of nearly 30% of Tulul al-Safa; the last bastion for the ultraconservative militants in the area. A military source said that scores of ISIS militants have been killed and injured, some were even captured alive, during the battles currently taking place in the area.
