Matt Gooderick reports from San Francisco, where he speaks to one of the women behind a revolutionary gene-editing tool. The technology CRISPR-Cas9, has the potential to eradicate previously incurable diseases but poses ethical questions over the consequences of altering the human genome. Jennifer Doudna says the technology has the potential to do ‘wonderful’ and ‘terrible’ things.
