Ormond Beach, FL - Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood spotted a trio of suspects after an Ormond Beach robbery this week and started a pursuit that ended up snaring the men. The helicopter pilot tracked the vehicle after it got onto Interstate 4 heading west. The footage showed the vehicle traveling at high speeds weaving around other vehicles and at times traveling along the left shoulder of the roadway. Deputies said the suspects Wendell Harp, 19; Sheldric Slater, 19; and Daraja Tinsley, 20 had committed a robbery shortly before 6:15 p.m. at an AT&T store in Ormond Beach, during which the clerk was shoved into a counter and several iPhones were stolen. Deputies said they gave commands for them to stop running and Harp and Slater complied, but Tinsley kept running until he was apprehended by a pursuing K-9. They were charged with grand theft and robbery.
