The Palestinian bashed the soldier in the head with a rock, seriously injuring him, at an army post outside Beit El in the central West Bank on Friday. It seems the attacker also managed to stab the soldier with a knife. The assailant fled the scene, prompting a manhunt. The army said a fight broke out between the two at a military post near Beit El after the assailant hit the soldier with a rock at close range. The soldier was taken to Jerusalem's Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem in serious condition - The serviceman was unconscious and hooked up to a ventilator. Doctors said he was in life-threatening condition. Troops launched searches in the area to find the attacker.
