Eighteen people have been injured, one critically, after a bus mounted an embankment and overturned in Glasgow last night (April 29). The bus took place on a slip road at Broomhill near the Clyde Tunnel at around 7pm, local media reported. Video shows emergency services at the scene.

Armenia's man of the hour, Nikol Pashinyan
One of the newsmakers of the moment is Armenian opposition leader Nikol Pashinyan, who at the head of a people power movement has forced the resignation of the former president and prime minister, and looks likely to topple the government. Euronews' Apostolos Staikos has been able to get one of the first interviews with him. "It seems to be the end of this political battle, and it looks like you have won. How do you feel?" Nikol Pashinyan: "You know, I think it is the people who have won here, the Armenians who share our ideas. We need change and we need a new government." Apostolos Staikos: "What are you going to do to win support of the largest party, the Republicans, and their parliamentary majority?" Nikol Pashinyan: "I think that's a question for the Republican's agenda. I think they need to evaluate the situation, Armenia's political situation, and then draw the right conclusions." Apostolos Staikos: "Imagine that, on Wednesday, you are Armenia's new prime minister. What will be your priorities, your first measures?" Nikol Pashinyan: "The first thing to do will be to prepare for truly free early elections that are completely legal and democratic. We think they need to be as soon as possible. But we understand we also need to reach some sort of concensus with the other parties to organise elections. I repeat, these need to be organised as quickly as possible, and we have to get all-party support". Apostolos Staikos: "What if the Republican party says no? If it refuses to support you because it doesn't believe in you? Will you continue to demonstrate? Nikol Pashinyan: "I do not think that our people are ready to accept any other solution. They want to see their candidate as prime minister, and this objective has to be realised."

Turkish fan gets 'banned' from team's stadium - so he hires a crane to watch the game
A Turkish football fan banned from his favourite team's stadium has signalled his unwavering passion for Denizlispor by hiring a crane to view a home match. Videos posted online show the supporter, Ali Demirkaya, waving Denizlispor on while atop the crane on April 28, as fans inside the Denizli Atat"urk Stadium cheered down below. The forbidden stunt was, however, short-lived. The superfan, nicknamed "Amigo Ali", later told Yeni Asir newspaper: "That match was very important for our team (Denizlispor). I had to go to the police station to sign a paper to show that I am not watching the match in the stadium. Then I quickly went to rent the crane." "I paid 354 liras (EUR70) for the rent. I started watching from the 75th minute but police officers didn't allow me to watch until the end." Local reports say the superfan has a year-long ban from entering the stadium, but it was not immediately known why he was ousted. Denizlispor won the match against Gaziantepspor 5-0.

Brave terrapin steals food from crocodile
A group of terrapins show their bravery by stealing food from under the nose of crocodile. The footage, filmed in Kruger National Park in South Africa in 2014 shows the terrapins crowding a crocodile when one brave one goes for a scrap of food at the same time as the croc. The terrapin had a near miss, but according to avid wildlife videographer, Robert Humphries the crocodile never tried to bite them on purpose. Writes Humphries: "(The terrapin) moves overland during the wet season, and often ends up in temporary pools, like this one in a small tributary stream of the Olifants River. This pool also had an immature Nile Crocodile (Crocodylus niloticus) in it, apparently living harmoniously with the terrapins. "The terrapins and the crocodile rushed to the edge of the pool whenever a vehicle stopped, hoping for food. The terrapins competed for food scraps with the crocodile, climbing over it and getting in front of its jaws in their rush for food, but the crocodile never tried to bite any of them."

Man takes giant tortoise for a walk by placing it upside-down on his head
A giant tortoise was seen being taken for a "walk" while on its owner's head on a street in northern China. The video, filmed in Shenyang City in Liaoning Province on April 23, shows an elderly man placing a giant tortoise upset down on his head and using a long stick attached to a rope tied to it to keep its balance. According to an onlooker named Ms Li, the man always places his pet tortoise on his head and walks it along the road.

Good Samaritans rush to rescue toddler trapped under car
A three-year-old boy trapped under a car was rescued in southwestern China earlier this month. In shocking dash-cam and CCTV video, captured in Yuxi City in Yunnan Province on April 17, a car runs over a boy squatting on the road after it turns a corner. Nearby passersby can be seen rushing to lift up the car together to free the boy trapped under the vehicle. After he was rescued, the ambulance sent him to hospital. Fortunately, he only had minor scratches on his back. The cause was being investigated.

Armenia opposition leader Pashinyan formally nominated PM candidate
The Armenian opposition leader Nikol Pashinyan has been formally adopted by his Yelk alliance as candidate for prime minister, a day before parliament votes on a new head of government. It comes the week after street protests brought down the long-standing leader Serzh Sargsyan. His ruling Republican Party has said it won't stand in the way of Pashinyan when parliament meets. The favourite for prime minister among the large crowds of demonstrators announced his nomination to reporters, having secured the support of all opposition factions. On Sunday the 42-year-old told another gathering of tens of thousands of supporters that he was ready for the role. "I want to look straight in the eyes of all of you, with all the confidence to declare that yes, I am ready to assume the office of the prime minister of the Republic of Armenia and to serve the people of Armenia," Pashinyan said. He told Euronews that the Armenian people backed the opposition idea that "we need changes and we need new government". Pashinyan has called on supporters to turn out again in Yerevan on Monday evening. More than ten days of protests ultimately brought the resignation of Sargsyan last week, just days after the 63-year-old had been voted into the revamped post by parliament following a decade as president. Demonstrators - who come from a wide variety of backgrounds and whose protests have often been spontaneous - blame the ex-leader and his government for failing to improve the economy, reduce poverty and tackle corruption in the former Soviet Republic. The European Union has offered its support to Armenia in its efforts to build a "prosperous and democratic society", calling for restraint and responsibility on all sides.

UK gets new interior minister
Sajid Javid has been named as the UK's new interior minister, replacing Amber Rudd following her resignation. Local government and communities minister Javid was the favourite to succeed Ms Rudd at the Home Office. He will be replaced by former Northern Ireland Secretary James Brokenshire. Rudd left her post on Sunday evening. She had faced mounting pressure to go after admitting inadvertently misleading MPs over the existence of immigration targets in connection with the Windrush outcry. In her resignation letter she took "full responsibility" for not being aware of the existence of targets. Rudd is the fifth departure from Prime Minister Theresa May's Cabinet.

Rescued cobra filmed laying 23 eggs
Rescuers in India were pleasantly surprised after successfully rescuing a cobra when the snake went on to lay 23 eggs. Volunteers of Snake Helpline attended a distress call from a family in Bhubaneswar, in the eastern Indian state of Odisha, which had spotted a cobra in their home. They caught a magnificent five-year-old Indian spectacled cobra and placed her in a snake bag. When they tried to release her in a forest area later, they found that she had laid three eggs. They took her back to their office and placed her in a plastic container. To their utter delight, the cobra went on to lay 23 eggs in total. A video shot in the office shows the cobra laying her eggs while warning humans to keep distance by raising her hood and hissing continuously. Secretary of Snake Helpline Suvendu Malik said: "The snake was agitated and tried to strike at us frequently." The mother was later released in her natural habitat and the eggs were moved to an artificial incubator. Indian cobras usually lay between 10 and 30 eggs between the months of April and July. The hatchlings, which arrive 48 to 69 days later, are independent from birth, and have fully functional venom glands.

The Syrian army confirmed that Sunday that several military bases in northern Syria were struck in an attack blamed on Israel by the Hezbollah-affiliated newspaper Al Akhbar. According to official news agency SANA, a military source said that "some military sites in the countryside of Hama and Aleppo provinces were exposed at 10:30 PM to a new aggression with hostile rockets." The explosions following the strike registered as a 2.6 magnitude earthquake by the European Mediterranean Seismological Center, but the weapons used did not cause the quake. Over 18 people were killed and another 60 were wounded, Sky News Arabia reported citing regime media. Al Akhbar reported the targets of the strike were Syrian army bases being used by Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps and Shi'ite militias with troops from Lebanon, Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan. Hezbollah's Al Mayadeen reported missiles also struck targets in the Al-Malikiyah area, north of the Aleppo's airport. Tourists look on in awe as snake catches lizard in coffee shop
Tourists watched in awe when a snake dropped down from a coffee shop ceiling and ate a lizard. Ann Murison had been sitting in a cafe on holiday in Hua Hin, Thailand when the green vine snake slithered down from the roof. The reptile wrapped itself around Ann's brown bamboo chair as it pounced on a tokay gecko - hanging upside down and writhing around while devouring it. Ann called over passing Australian tourist Justin Vaughan and his wife who was heard saying: ''Oh my gosh, that is unbelievable, how's it going to eat that? Ugh, I'm outta here.'' The snake grappled with the lizard for more than ten minutes before squeezing the rest of its body down its throat and disappearing into nearby bushes. Justin said the serpent ''was worried about his dinner'' after seeing the group of tourists gathered round. But after the tussle, the lizard had been ''completely devoured''. Ann, from Turriff, Aberdeenshire, added: ''We were in a coffee shop across from our apartment when the snake slid from the roof and got the lizard. ''The poor lizard was just sitting on the wall minding its own business. We watched it in awe for about 10 mins. It's something you don't see every day when you're on holiday.'' The green vine snake - scientific name ahaetulla nasuta - is found in India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Burma, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam.

UK's No 2 and No 3 supermarkets to merge
Sainsbury's and Asda supermarkets plan to merge in a deal that could create the UK's biggest retailer with more than a third of the grocery market. Sainsbury's, formerly the second biggest supermarket, and Walmart-owned Asda, which held the third spot, said they plan to combine to overtake Tesco. Missile attack kills 26, mostly Iranians in Syria, report says
An overnight missile attack in Syria's northern region has killed 26 pro-government fighters, mostly Iranians, a Syria war monitoring group said Monday. The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the attack appears to have been carried out by Israel and targeted an arms depot for surface-to-surface missiles at a base in northern Syria known as Brigade 47. The Observatory said four Syrians were also among casualties. It said the death toll could rise as the attack also wounded 60 fighters and there were several others are still missing. The attack comes amid rising tensions between Iran and Israel following an airstrike earlier this month on Syria's T4 air base in central province of Homs that killed seven Iranian military personnel. Syria, Iran and Russia blamed Israel for that attack. Israel did not confirm or deny it. Israel Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman said in an interview published last Thursday that his country will strike Tehran if attacked by archenemy Iran, escalating an already tense war of words between the two adversaries. Tehran has sent thousands of Iran-backed fighters to back President Bashar Assad's forces in the country's seven-year civil war. Iranian state television, citing Syrian media, reported Monday's attack. The semi-official ISNA news agency, citing "local sources and activists," said the strike killed 18 Iranians, including a commander, in a suburb of the central city of Hama. The missiles targeted buildings and centers which likely include a weapons depot, ISNA reported. Earlier on Monday, Syrian TV reported a "new aggression," with missiles targeting military outposts in northern Syria. The state-run television reported that the missiles targeted military outposts in the Hama and Aleppo countryside. Syria-based opposition media activist Mohamad Rasheed said that base that came under attack is about 10 kilometers (7 miles) outside the city of Hama adding that airstrike led to several explosions in the arms depot. He added that the area is known as the Maarin Mountain or Mountain 47. Rasheed said that some of the exploding missiles in the arms depot struck parts of Hama adding that residents in areas near the base fled their homes. This is the incredible moment a pack of wild dogs traps and harasses a male leopard in a tree in South Africa. Footage filmed on April 2 in Kruger National Park show the pack of endangered wild dogs encircling a tree and harassing the snarling leopard standing on a branch. The dogs can be seen running and leaping on to the tree trunk in an attempt to intimidate the fearsome predator. Newsflare member EmotionsOfAfrica writes that they came across the rare sight of a pack of dogs while on a safari tour. "We came across a pack of wild dogs. Suddenly the majority of the pack takes off with great speed and disappears into the bush," he writes. Once they entered into a clearing, what they saw left them in awe. he adds: "We eventually found the pack standing below a tree looking really agitated. "To our surprise and total amazement we discovered that there was a male leopard up in this tree and the wild dogs were harassing and pestering this leopard non-stop." The wild dog is one of Africa's most endangered species, and although it is present up and down the continent, it is most prominent in sub-Saharan Africa. The filmer adds: "Wild dogs and leopards compete for the same food and there has always been a fierce rivalry between the two species. Afghanistan: blasts shake Kabul morning rush hour
The Afghan capital Kabul has been shaken by two explosions during the morning rush hour on Monday, leaving several people dead and injured. The Afghan Ministry of Public Health says at least seven people have been killed, and 20 injured. Reports say journalists were caught up in the second blast, and among the dead is a photographer from the AFP news agency. Both explosions are said to have occurred close to government buildings: the first near the NDS intelligence service, followed by another outside the headquarters of the ministry of urban development and housing. A Kabul policeman suggested this might have been a suicide attack, but there has been no confirmation. The blasts come a week after an attack at a voter registration centre killed 60 people. Security officials have warned of an increasing risk of attacks ahead of parliamentary elections planned for October. There was no immediate claim of responsibility. There has been heavy fighting in several areas of the country since the Taliban announced its usual spring offensive last week.

Sweden: Syrian Migrant Claims He Didn't Know Sex With 12-Year-Old Was Illegal

However, after being convicted by the Uddevalla District Court this week he was sentenced to just six months of detention in a youth care facility and a 140,000 SEK (lb11,729) fine. According to independent Swedish journalist Joakim Lamotte, the migrant, who came to Sweden in 2014, claimed that he did not know it was illegal to have sex with a girl under the age of 15 and said that the victim had told him she was 14 at the time. The two counts of child rape were not the Syrian's only crimes, as he was also sentenced for unlawful threats, threats to officials, and drug offences....

US President Donald Trump is stepping up the war of words on trade, this time threatening to take on the European Union. Addressing a rally in Michigan on Saturday, the US President accused the EU of putting up trade barriers. Pamplona protesters call for justice after 'Wolf Pack' trial verdict
Thousands took to the streets of Pamplona, Spain, for the third day running to protest over the lenient sentences given to five men accused of gang raping a minor at a bull-running festival two years ago. State prosecutors said they would appeal the ruling that has prompted anguished soul-searching and angry protests across Spain. The men, who had recorded video of the attack on their mobile phones and laughed about the incident afterwards on a Whatsapp group, were convicted with the lesser crime of sexual abuse and sentenced to nine years in jail. Shaken by the scale of protests against the court ruling, the Spanish government said on Friday it would consider revamping the criminal code to ensure that sex crimes were punished more harshly. Protests continued on Friday outside the court in Pamplona where the trial took place. Hundreds of people chanted "We want justice" and waved signs that read "No means No" and "Justice!" Tens of thousands took to the streets across Spain on Thursday. The state prosecutor for the Spanish regional government of Navarra said it would appeal the court ruling in coming days on the grounds of infringement of the law, arguing that the attack carried out by the five men on an 18-year old woman in the lobby of a residential building was rape and not sexual abuse. UN Security Council envoys began a four-day visit to Bangladesh and Myanmar on Saturday to see firsthand the aftermath of a Myanmar military crackdown that Britain, the United States and others have denounced as ethnic cleansing of Rohingya Muslims. They are due to meet Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Myanmar's de facto leader Aung San Suu Kyi and travel to Rakhine state, where the violence erupted eight months ago. Myanmar denies the accusations of ethnic cleansing. Rohingya insurgent attacks on security posts in Rakhine on August 25 sparked the military operation that has sent nearly 700,000 Rohingya fleeing to camps in Cox's Bazar in Bangladesh. Council envoys will visit those camps on Sunday. The visit puts a global spotlight back on the crisis amid warnings by the United Nations, aid groups and Myanmar's panel of international advisers on Rohingya issues that the coming monsoon season would likely worsen the humanitarian situation. "We have to push to see how we can speed up the process of the implementation of the bilateral agreement between Bangladesh and Myanmar," said Kuwait's U.N. Ambassador Mansour Ayyad Al-Otaibi. Myanmar and Bangladesh agreed in January to complete a voluntary repatriation of the refugees within two years.

Kim Jong-Un promises transparent nuclear test site closure
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un plans to invite experts and journalists from the United States and South Korea when the country closes its nuclear test site in May, Seoul officials said on Sunday, as US President Trump pressed for total denuclearisation ahead of his own unprecedented meeting with Kim. On Friday, Kim and South Korean President Moon Jae-in vowed "complete denuclearisation" of the Korean peninsula in the first inter-Korean summit in more than a decade, but the declaration did not include concrete steps to reach that goal. North Korea's state media had said before the summit that Pyongyang would immediately suspend nuclear and missile tests, scrap its nuclear test site and instead pursue economic growth and peace. "The United States, though inherently hostile to North Korea, will get to know once our talk begins that I am not the kind of person who will use nuclear weapons against the South or the United States across the Pacific," Moon's press secretary Yoon Young-chan quoted Kim as saying. "There is no reason for us to possess nuclear weapons while suffering difficulties if mutual trust with the United States is built through frequent meetings from now on, and an end to the war and non-aggression are promised." Kim said there were two additional, larger tunnels that remain "in a very good condition" at the Punggye-ri test site beyond the existing one, which experts have said had collapsed after repeated explosions, rendering much of the site useless. Kim's promise shows his willingness to "preemptively and actively" respond to inspection efforts to be made as part of the denuclearisation process, Yoon said. The Neomugicha Bus Murder is the name given to the hijacking between May 4 and May 5, 2000, of a Japanese bus by a user of internet forum 2channel known now as Boy A (for legal reasons) after placing a warning on the website that he was going to cut off someone's head. An hour after posting a cryptic threat in a thread with the name "Neomugicha the 17-year-old hijacked a bus in Dazaifu, Fukuoka, Japan with a Gyuto knife (very big and sharp knife) stabbing one passenger to death and decapitating them injuring 4. The Special Assault Team then stormed the hijacked bus and captured the youth alive. The incident came as a shock to both 2channers, who had mocked Neomugicha as a liar, thinking he was posting about an attack that had already occurred, and to the general public. When police investigate the story they found it to be allot more complex than originally had been believed, they found out that Boy A had fallen in love with a love doll and had been sneaking into a nearby factory to consummate his love, but when security suspected someone was breaking in after hours they got additional locks and night security keeping Boy An away from his love doll. When he told his parents that he had fallen in love and that his girlfriend had been kidnapped and he needed to pay the ransom. Plea Deal For Woman With Gun In Body Cavity
APRIL 27--A Missouri woman who had a loaded handgun hidden in her vagina at the time of her arrest last year today pleaded guilty to weapons possession and narcotics charges. During an appearance in Circuit Court in McLean County, Illinois, Anika Witt, 27, copped to a pair of felony charges as part of a plea agreement that requires her to testify at trial against an acquaintance with whom she was arrested last September. Pictured at right, Witt faces up to 10 years in prison on the gun charge and 15 years in custody on a heroin possession rap. However, her cooperation will likely result in a greatly reduced term when she appears in court in late-June for sentencing. As part of Witt's plea deal, prosecutors agreed to drop four other felony counts lodged against the convicted felon (who faces a $6400 fine related to the heroin count). Witt and Clinton McDonald, 29, were arrested following a traffic stop on Interstate 55 just north of Bloomington. A search of the pair's vehicle turned up heroin and Ecstasy, police reported. Witt was subsequently transported to the McLean County jail, where arrestees are subjected to a strip search. It was during that procedure that a female jailer recovered a loaded Kimber .380 caliber handgun from Witt's vagina. The weapon, cops say, had a fully loaded clip and a bullet in the chamber. The gun, seen below in a photo from the manufacturer's web site, is 5.6" long and weighs 13.4 ounces with an empty magazine. Witt's rap sheet includes multiple arrests, including collars for theft, passing bad checks, and resisting arrest.
