LONDON — 45 years after they safely returned to Earth from the ill-fated Apollo 13 mission, three astronauts have been given one of the world's highest honours: the Lego treatment.
The London-based company Minifigs.me created yellow and flesh-coloured versions of Jim Lovell, Jack Swigert and Fred Haise, who were on board the journey to the moon in 1970. The trio were subsequently portrayed by Tom Hanks, Kevin Bacon and Bill Paxton in the 1995 movie Apollo 13.
The collector's set also features a two-inch representation of NASA Flight Director Gene Kranz, who oversaw their return, and is the company's "most demanding historical project to date." Read more...
