Garbage premieres ‘The Chemicals’ music video for Record Store Day

Happy almost Record Store Day, audiophiles! Prepare to celebrate with a brand new release from legendary alt rockers Garbage


Record Store Day, an annual event recognizing the independent, brick-and-mortar purveyors of music out there, was conceptualized in 2007. Since its inaugural edition in 2008 with ~300 stores participating, the production has grown in size and scale: This year there are over 1,200 pledged, fully participating stores in the U.S., and about 1,000 additional worldwide.



Vinyl sales have climbed in tandem with the success of Record Store Day — last year’s event saw a 58% increase in vinyl sales year-over-year. And, every year more and more new releases are generated in honor of the event. According to Record Store Day co-founder Carrie Colliton, 2008 saw less than 30 exclusive releases — but that number grew to about 100 in 2009 and this year, on Saturday, April 18, approximately 400 exclusive titles will hit the shelves of participating stores.
