Authorities in Minsk, Belarus did not allow a rally-concert in support of Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, a popular activist and presidential candidate to be held in the park on August 6. Instead, they organized a celebration of the day of railway troops to support the candidate who has garnered controversy as a potential thorn in the power of Russian president Vladimir Putin.
