China and the United States are destined for war. This is the rule of history, not the exception. History teaches us to look closely at the lessons of history for clues about today's realities. A momentum toward war is underway. We can see signs of it shape this relationship. The US needs to de-link from China for its national security, however, as it does so China will be less beholden to maintaining the thin veil of diplomatic cordiality. China, like its virus, is hostile to its host. This is part of the Thucydides trap we find ourselves in.
