Hey LL hope your having a great weekend. The child abductions of Blacks in Atlanta shook a city that was still recovering from the assassination on Martin Luther King. Gripped by fear, anxiety and helplessness, parents refused to let their children play outside. Some took their children out of school. Psychics arrived to help. The city imposed a curfew. In 1982, Wayne Williams was convicted of killing two adults. FBI suspected that he was also responsible for most of the child murders, even though they as well as the killings of four young adult, where local police believe that it was the KKK. Many people to this day believe his conviction was based on political pressure and that the KKK had been on the FBI's radar for some time after an informer had told them that the local Klan had been killing black children in the area to hopefully push the racially divided town to its limit. Authorities will take another look at the decades-old Atlanta child murders, re-examining evidence in the hopes that technological breakthroughs might point to a definite killer in the cases, most of which were never solved. The point is not to vindicate convicted murderer Wayne Williams, who was implicated as the prime suspect in the slayings, but to provide closure to the families of victims who have long sought answers about their children's killers and never believed that Wayne Williams was guilty.
